I think Sammy's definition of "superstar" is probably different from that of most people.

There is no way a "superstar" guitarist is going to agree to be "hired" by Sammy Hagar to play on a Hagar solo tour. At least not by any reasonable definition of "superstar."

Why not? Roth hired several superstar guitarists... so did Ozzy... and it's not like Sammy's bank account is running low or anything.

It Sam/Wabos/Mike tour with Extreme it will be Nuno and I'm sure he would qualify as a superstar in Sam's eyes. Sam is a businessman he probably uses the word a little more freely than some fans.

Unbelievable! It still blows my mind seeing Sam and Joe up on stage together! He was the only guy I had in mind for the gig. I think I might have even posted somewhere that Satriani was the guy I'd most like to see play with Sam and Mike.

But Sam and Joe?!?!? What a combo. Then Mike and Chad as well?!?!?....Are you kidding me?!?!?

I'll give ya a HELL YAAAAA!!!!

Default A little trip thru the history of this thread......

Except for the inevitable pissing matches, was fun to revisit some of the comments and startling premonitions......

KleeHee
Satriani is another possiblity, you know, for a tour.

DoHalen5150
I could see Satch with Sam..that would be interesting.

Bad to the Bone
Satriani was in Planet Us near the end and he jammed with them on Rockline..pretty cool jam for guitar geeks with him and Schon just going off for minutes on end.

topjimmy4VH
Satch - A good choice, although i just dont think he'd do it. Still, it would be a name that even non-guitarists would recognize...i mean, his instrumentals have made the radio.

SmithJC
This thread really took off since last night/this morning. A lotta interesting names being bandied to and fro. I'd still go with Satch or Schon.

Hissing Cobra
Satriani has been a hired hand in the past (Mick Jagger and others), so maybe it could be him? Who knows!

Webbed1
Maybe it'll be Satch, since they're both into aliens and shit lol.

LOC
hmmm...Satch...now THERE's a interesting idea...

cokemach1
See the post in the Michael Anthony thread area dealing with The Mad Anthony Cafe.
Could this superstar be Satriani???!!!!!

Number 47 pretty much broke the story to us on 2-24-08
Quite possible. A recent MelodicRock article on Chad Smith mentions Joe working with Chad, Michael and Sammy in Chickenfoot.

Some skeptics.....

Little Dreamer
Sam would need a huge amount of money to get Satch

Broken9500
i doubt it would be Satch or Vai or really any of those kind of guys.

And the grand prize winner ......

At0micPunk
I would love to see a new band with Satch, Sam, Mike, and a great drummer.

A rather odd coincidental way to start a post.....

Number47
Oh Yeah!
When the FUCK is Sammy Hagar gonna STOP trying to please every facet of his bloated dynasty?

And we actually have a user here called Down the Drain as early as 07???

No joke!

I'm so glad this turned out to be what it is and not what we were all thinking about last year. Back then the general sentiment was that Sam was hiring a "superstar" to do some sort of anthology tour where they played his old hits. In that context I didn't see Satriani or any of the other guys we were talking about coming on board for that. Why?

The fact that this turned out to be hagar getting with satriani on a new album...well that's totally different.

Things worked out!

Ageing rocker, Ted Nugent was held briefly for treatment at an Arizona hospital after an altercation with a six year old Chinese girl, sources say.
It appears that the famously right-wing musician, seen above sporting a wig-mullet and full body beard, had made derogotary comments about the girl's father, a communist party official from Ghangzhou.
Just moments after this photo was taken, the plucky girl, whose name remains unreleased, socked the Nuge with a straight left followed by a roundhouse kick, as she screamed "You don't lock. You don't loll. You illelevant".
Sources say that the Nuge will still be performing his scheduled concert on his poorly attended "American dickhead" tour, tomorrow night. Controversy has followed the tour, which includes live on stage killings of illegal aliens. One unwilling attendee, named Jason, of Cuban - Jewish ancestry, said quite succinctly; "Ted's a fag".

Thumbs up

Sammy really delivered with getting Satriani. He is definately a superstar guitarist. I was worried a bit it would be a country guitarist, Since he was hanging out with a few in recent years. I don't like country music.
