I guess Vic doesn't play the VH stuff very well if he's gotta hire someone...

Kind of a slap in the face..

maybe he's just trying to give it a different vibe? Vic's gotten alot better at doing the VH stuff, he doesn't nail it right on the money but it's close and he puts his own spin on things...now thats a good thing or a bad thing depending on how you look at it.

That was my initial thought. Why the change in guitarists? What happened between Sammy and Vic if anything?
Ouch!

i don't think it's anything like that...my general sense is that this whole "superstar guitarist to be announced" thing is just Sammy trying to get some attention for the tour and increase interest. There's nothing inherently wrong with that. Obviously i have no idea what goes on with these people so i suppose it's certainly possible that something has happened between sammy and vic but based on what so many of you have to say about these guys and these shows leads me to believe that nothing nasty has happened.

Vic is still playing with Sam and the Wabos, and the Michael Anthony Express. I believe this is to increase interest...(Vai would be killer!!!)

A third guitarist? I would rather see a hot superstar female singer up on stage trading vocals with Sammy.

better yet...a hot superstar female singer up on stage INSTEAD of sammy!

heeheehee...I'm sorry I just couldn't resist. I don't mean to be a hater.

Actually I can't think of a single female singer I'd want to see in this setting...can you?

I'm trying to think of one, but all I see around me are the cutesy blonde country singers. Need a Gretchen Wilson type or the Wilson sisters of the past that can hold their own.

Perhaps this should be in the 'Red Rocker' forum?

I don't seem to recall Hagar in the band at the PRESENT.....

"I ain't saying hello to no stuffed bear."
"You know, now that I think about it, it's going to take a little longer to sew up that shirt than I was thinking."
"Hi Fluffy, how you been?"
"Now that I'm thinking of it even more, it's going to take half the time, Double D, Diamond Dave! Would you hold Fluffy?"
"N--- yeah."

I doubt Sam will return unless it is a Dave and Sam tour that include Mike playing with Sam. I enjoyed the Greensboro show but this is really nothing more than a money making tour. There is no real vibe, no new music. It is Ed doing his thing and Dave kind of doing his thing. No crowd interaction, not much of a show other than 2 hours of nonstop hits. Don't get me wrong that is great for a lot of people but where is the fun?

Well I don't think it's a slap in the face to Vic, he plays with Mike, the Wabos, and that's his own gigs really. I think Sam just wants to make this next tour as big as he possibly can.

My guess would be Eric Johnson, he jammed FWYS in Chicago here last year with Sam & Mike and Sam said something to the effect that Eric was one of the best guitar players on the planet.

oh, settle down...like there wasn't any "Dave" threads over the last few years on here when he wasn't in the band, this is a pretty hot topic so why move it?
