Seems with so many nations declassifying some of their UFO info lately that maybe they're intentionally putting pressure on the US Government to finally do so.
I think possibly the US Government has quite an advantage of knowledge in this area and no desire whatsoever to show its hand. That's a lot of power in your pocket. They're in no rush to admit anything or share any secrets.
It's unfortunate for all of us. Full disclosure on these matters would probably be amazing to say the very least.
I've never seen a UFO in person. Only seen and heard lots of convincing evidence. Pretty obvious that something's up.

There was something on the history channel about UFOs Saturday afternoon where they talked about the meetings the joint chiefs had to determine how to handle the UFO sightings and such. Evidently, the US government decided they were going to turn it all into a big goofy gag where sightings were seen more as a kitschy joke and nothing to take seriously instead of allowing it to capture people's legitimate attention.
