I doubt the long silence would come to an end with an interiview from a Calgary radio station. But stranger things have happened in VH land

On the contrary, this could very well be it. Picture it:

"Yawn, a VH interview in an out of the way place like Calgary, where 99% of America won't be able to here it, and most of Canada won't either. Probably just gonna talk how they've been shooting the shit for the last four years."

If VH were to actually be ballsy enough to pull this off, they could very well make an announcement or two right there--and then have the word spread like wildfire. It would be an interesting market ploy. However, my gut tells me that's probably not it. Maybe just a little talk about the current status of the band, if it's new at all.

DJ: Hey, we have the boys from Pasadena with us this evening. Ed, Al, Mike and Dave. Yes folks, it's VAN HALEN!!!

DJ: So Ed, how's the band?
ED: Aww man, the band is great. We starting a tour very soon. Ya know, Dave is like my musical soulmate............

FAST FORWARD to 1986

DJ: What a suprise we have for our listening audience this evening. Tonight in the studio, it's the Mighty Van Halen. Yep, Ed, Al, Sammy, (Background noise of clapping and a Yaahoo) and Mikey!!

DJ: Wow, the 2nd version of Van Halen. I gotta tell ya guys, after Dave left, I thought, and THANK GOD I WAS WRONG, that Van Halen was over, but now you guys have a new album, 5150, which rocks and a new lead singer. What gives Ed???

Ed: Yeah, I've always been a big fan of Sammy's and I feel he's a musical soulmate, a brother, part of the family........

Fast Forward to 1998

DJ: What a treat we have for you. Right here, Right now, (Band laughing in background) we have the 1 and only Van Halen!! (Background noise of Gary saying, 'What's up Nuno, I'm here bro', more laughing)

DJ: Man o Man, You guys seem to keep re-inventing yourselves. Ed, do you see this as a 3rd times a charm, or 3 strikes and we're out kind of band now?

ED: Well........in the past, (long silence), let me put it this way......Gary is like a long lost brother, a musical soulmate if ya will.....

FastForward to 2002

DJ: Sheeze, what a suprise we have for you fans of Van Halen, today in the studio we have the brother's Van Halen, Eddie and Alex. Remember these guys?

DJ: Wow guys, thanks for coming. Look, Ed, you look great man, I hear the Doc's have giving you a clean bill of health, and that is WONDERFUL!! Ok Ed, We have Sam and Dave doing their thing across America, are the guys making a statement here or what?

ED:

DJ: Yo Ed?

ED:

DJ: Hmmmm, hey Eddie? Alex, is Eddie asleep?

Alex: We haven't been doing much of anything, just letting Ed get better and jamming at the studio.

DJ: That's not what I asked you Alex, YO!!!!!!!!! EDDIE!!!!!!!!!! Alex, what's the deal with Ed, his he sleeping?

Alex: Yep, Mikey is still in the band, but he just popping up every now and then jamming with Sammy.

DJ: Umm ok.........(Covers microphone with hand and tells producer, "Man, it's gonna be another long year with for these guys......and their fans!!"

DJ: Right Alex, ok we're gonna pause here so we can pay the bills, a short commerical and we'll be right back with Van Halen, or at leat Alex Van Halen anyways.....(Loud Thud as Ed falls out of chair). Whoa, Alex is Ed ok? Some get over here and help him up......."We'll be right back folks, keep it here on Canada's Number 1 Rock station. WFAG 99.6

If Van Halen were to make an announcement concerning the new singer, if it were going to be dave or sammy, wouldnt they wait until the Dave/sammy tour was over? i think they would, but i hope that it is new so we can get an idea of whats going on. But the last Dave/Sammy show for awhile is on June 29, and the interview is on the 28th. So maybe EVH sensed the reception DLR was getting and he realizes what they could do. Just hoping against hope.

I don't know, everything changes, cars houses, government, technology, women. Well, not women, but everything else changes. VH is just not the same. Re-uniting with DLR or Sam, sure it would be nice, but it is so worn out now. I think it would nice to hear from them one more time and I am sure we will.
