Talking

Ok, here is what I posted at the Army.

The show was so amazing that it's difficult to put into words how I felt about it, I mean it went so fast, 2 hours felt like 15 minutes and I was having such a great time. I wanted more, I wanted so many more songs, I just couldn't believe it when it was over.

Firstly, this was a true Rock n Roll show.

The first 4 or 5 songs simply run you the fuck down and you find it difficult to get back up!

Dave was the man, Ed was in his glory smiling away and jumping, Alex brought it, and Wolf did a great job, yes quite wet behind the ears, but what do you expect he's 16. I have to admit I did think about Michael being there a few times, but the family vibe on stage and the interaction with Ed and Wolf, and Dave gave this show something special.

I'm not gonna go into detail on this one, but I had 14th row on Ed's side thanks to Mambo, THANK YOU MAN!!!! You are awesome!!!!

I was also about 1 row from the ramp as well, so that gives it that little bit of extra push of getting that 1st or 2nd row feel for a moment or two.

The backing vocals were real, but there was some enhancement via processor to thicken up the tone a bit I think.

Wow, that was the best I have heard Dave sing in the last 6 years, he brought his A game for sure, and delivered even better than expected.

Other notes: Yes, Ed did play the black and yellow striped with PHILLY on it. Hey Lou, I hear you sort of, but it is expected. I had these people that I think snuck up with their friends next to us, which I would normally have no problem with, but they were way too far into our seats(at one point my gal and i were covering the area of only one seat, then I fucking lost it) and that fat chick was annoying the fuck out of me, so I had to tell them twice to move into their area, because I knew they didn't have the tickets for that area. That distraction took away from the show a bit.

I enjoyed the interaction with Wolf, and I found it cute. I thought that during Eddie's solo, the years of abuse did show a bit here and there, but that's ok.......it is no easy feat for any person to climb out of that hole, and he will only shine more as time goes on. Don't get me wrong, most of the time he was simply amazing to watch. The energy was inspiring to be a part of, but I am going to shy away from reviews and not think about the next show at MSG until it comes, so maybe I can have more of surprise feeling from it.

Also, Dave did the jacking thing with a water bottle during Mean Street, albeit quite briefly as opposed to his solo gigs.

Alex's drum solo was more than I expected and he even reminded me of Neil Peart a bit, and borrowed the sample idea with the horns too, which worked.

Boy are the Philly people fucking ugly fucks!!

GO GIANTS!!!

Go to this show! Do not miss this!

I am looking forward to the MSG show in NYC, and maybe I'll another one, not sure.

What I meant was the '04 shows started great, hugs, kisses, playing well...we all know how that ended.

Coltsin07 was right about the sound being muddy. I hope it was the stadium because I'm going 11-3 in Jersey too. Reminded me of Nassau Colliseum in the 80's. Brutal sound system.

One note - Gotta close with something besides 'Jump'. Someone suggested 'Panama'. How about 'ATBL'?

Still one of the best shows I've ever seen in my life just because it was VH and Dave and Eddie making history. Just not rushing back to Philly any time soon.

The show was great. I Amtracked in for the concert from NYC. I've seen VH 20+ times including every tour beginning with 5150, but never with Dave. I was only 12 when they last toured with Dave and never got a chance to se them in their prime. Last night I was in the 11th row on Ed's side of the stage next to the ramp. Seing Dave up there with Eddie and Alex was amazing. I missed seing Mike with the 3 others, but I'll take it. Who knows if we'll ever see the Van Halen brothers again with DLR.

What a set list. I've never seen them play songs live like little guitars, romeo delight and so this is love. I know the tickets are expensive, but if you are a long time VH fan you won't be disappointed.

Ed seemed genuinely happier than in '04. I only saw him pissed about his equipment once last night. I forgot the song. It was a treat to see Dave. His ice cream man thing towards the end of the show was cool. The sound did get pretty muddy where I was sitting about half way through the show, almost like I remember the first show in the Meadowlands in '04. Overall, one of the best concerts I've ever seen.

As for their interactions on stage, everyone looked to be having a good time. Maybe I'm reading into this too much, but Ed didn't look thrilled when Dave bounced around the stage with the inflatable mike. I hope they continue to get along, finish the tour strong and hit the studio.

That's better playing (not video quality!) of THAT tune from THOSE guys than I've ever seen from ANY boot. Period.

Wow, they've locked that f*cker DOWN since the rehearsal show. Yeesh! Way better solo, better "quiet section", and better ending. Awesome!

You must have been sitting around people from New Jersey who cheer for sports teams that aren't even in their state.

Anyway, there was one point in the beginning of the show after about the 3rd song when the house lights came on and the place just kept cheering and cheering. Then Dave walked over to Eddie and they hugged. Great moment. There was also a couple laughs provided by Roth. From the "Have you seen Wolfie's grades?" to "That's what the bumper sticker should say...'Van Halen: I Can Barely See The Road'". Did anyone else notice the yellow and black guitar said "Philly" on it? Or Eddie's frankenstein sneakers? Anyway, if there is a bootleg of this show, PLEASE forward it to me. If not, will someone please record the Wednesday show? I'll be attending that one as well. Thanks guys!

I forgot about that guitar when posting my drunken review lol That guitar was sweet! I noticed it said Philly on it right away, it's where it said 5150 on his old kramer frankie.

all i can say is being a newbie to this forum but a van halen fan forever, it is wonderful to hear about all the honest reviews about these show's, My girlfriend and i are heading up to Kansas City, MO on oct. 26 for the show, and we are stoked, me more so since my very first concert was the 1984 tour, i was like 12years old, insane but for real. I Love the sammy stuff and of course the dave stuff but this is a dream come true to see them back eventhough mikey isn't there, sounds like wolfgang is doing a fine job.

One question i had, have the boys performed either of the two songs off the best of album, would love to hear "Me Wise Magic" a buddhist riff for your inner ear.....
