Default INDY - SHOW and 5 STAR

The Indy show was awesome. VH was terrific. Waited 23 years to hear all those great songs from the first 6 albums!!

5 STAR - was a joke, a quick 5 minute walk backstage and around the stage. This is why I paid 1500 for two????As we walked around the stage - Ed and wolf were sound checking. NO interaction, not even a head nod. I'm not a millionaire like the van halens or David Lee. I work hard for 1500 dollars. Way better in 2004. I had 5 star in Louisville KY for 275 dollars and at least we were able to watch the sound check and talk to Eddie and get autographs from Alex and Mike. So Five times as much money and no autographs, or sound check, nor a picture with the band. The raffle items were also a lot lamer than 2004. oh here's a good one the picture ILAA takes is you in your seats before the show. I can do that myself - thanks a lot ILAA and Van Halen - I WILL NEVER BE A FOOL AGAIN. I am no longer your number one fan!!!

Also for 1500, got 4th row

pissed off

I had a great time with my brother. We got into Indy at 4:00 went to the Hard Rock Cafe. They told us we had a 15 minute wait so my brother and I looked around and by the time we got done we were seated. Had some ribs and some Blue Moon beers. We then went to another bar around the corner and had a few more beer. We then headed for the show.

I enjoyed Marley. Different but good. Played some of his father songs.

Sound was not that great but I was in 208, earplugs did help. The first few songs were really muddy but then it seemed to clear up a bit.
Van Halen came on and rocked the joint. I enjoyed every minute of it. I watched in awe during parts of the show trying to ingest the whole thing without screaming the whole time so I could hear and see. They did great IMHO. It was great to see Dave at the helm, having never see him.
Was Alex using a steel drum at the end of his solo?

It was not 1984 but it was a solid show that I will always remember not only because of VH but also because I got to have some fun with older my brother. It is hard as an adult to get quality time with siblings.

Bosox's wife....I just had to put my two cents worth in here after reading some of the postings. We have seen VH before but never with Dave and this was well worth it even with the occasional sound issues (although we never normally sit that high up). For those people who cant stand Dave....Dave is what makes VH. Oh dont get me wrong I had the life size poster of Eddie in the Frankenstein overalls on my bedroom wall when I was 10 and during his solo I had a surreal moment. But Dave being Dave is what makes the show fun and entertaining. I was glad to see he didnt show anybody up and I might add for a 52 year old man he looked damn good. As for his costuming it could have been worse. As for the person complaining about Conseco being smoking free and no one caring about the pot smoking going on...I ask you have you ever been to a concert before?? As a nurse I could do with out it but its a concert and its all about atmosphere. Its a good thing she was with me in the late 80's at the Spectrum in Philly to see the Dead(not a fan went with brothers)!!! Wolfie was so good I didnt miss Mike except maybe on background vocals. We contemplated taking our daughter because she has been listening to them and I can tell you its pretty weird when you see your 11 year old Daughter listening to 1984 (the first record I ever bought at 11 also) so we will continue to be a VH family hoping they put out some new stuff before we croak.

Speaking of Wolfie using the S part of the stage....I was also sitting in 223 and I could have swore when Wolfie walked all the way around the end of the S part and stood for a second that a dude in a yellow shirt sitting in the 5star seats looked right up at wolfie and gave him 2 thumbs down. Wolfie just turned the other way and walked back around to the stage again.

Anybody else catch that? It didn't look like he was wearing a Got Mike? shirt or anything....

If someone did that, that was pretty low of them to do.

Yes kids, for one day, it was 1984 all over again.

I'm glad I went. I'm a huge CVH fan but haven't been happy with all the drama since '94.

The band was as good as I've EVER seen them.

Alex - rock solid
Dave - easily the best I've ever seen him. High kicks are gone but who f'n cares??
Wolf - two words: talented, inexperienced.
Ed - hardcore chops are gone but he has full command of his instruments, voice included. It's not about the solo anymore...enough time has passed that it is the songs that command the attention.

This show was very good... I must have been sitting next to VHisback. The sound was awesome. I could hear everything very clearly.

They played hard and loose -- just like old times. I'm very glad they were good. We all needed it...

I think they should get in the studio and re-release I'll Wait. It sounded great.

I would have to say I enjoyed the show it was even better than the first two. They are playing the same songs, but they changed them up a little. Eddied solo was better than first two shows IMO. I don’t understand why some of you who are so appalled by DLR, did not just save your money, and stay home. Eddie talked some about how proud he was that Wolf was in the band. I think the band is getting better as the tour goes on. Great show pricy but it was a great show.

I had an awesome time at the show in Indy last night. I saw them in Greensboro in 04 for the first time, and had seen Dave solo a few times. My seats were in the first row of the 2d floor section, right in the center. I thought the sound was great at my seats for a indoor arena show.

My favorite songs of the night were Everybody Wants Some, Running with the Devil, and Dance the Night Way...Dave really tried hard and delivered a good show. He actually sang unlike when I saw him before. I'll Wait was also really good...I think the most 'down' part of the show was Little Dreamer...the crowd seemed to die and it just lost a lot of energy.

I hope they come out with some new stuff if they continue to tour, b/c as much fun and as much as I love the Van Halen tunes I can't see paying the big $$$ for greatest hits tour after tour.

I'm glad I decided to go...would definitely encourage anyone on the fence to go.

I'm still kinda stunned by the show. Here are some quick thoughts...

My seats were in Sec 17 row 9 which ended up being the third row. on the side of the stage. Probably about 20 feet from Wolfie. My background as a VH fan is that I discovered them in 1984 but I was just 11. So most of my fandom has been in the Sammy era. I saw them 13 times with Sam, and as much as I love the six pack, I always was a bigger Sammy fan and I am jazzed to see him in about 2 weeks in Cincinnati.

That being said last night was awesome. It was actually almost too much. The setlist has been covered, and I'm sure Indy was the same. But it was an assault. Soundwise from where I was it was fantastic. Very clear, not too loud, good tone. The only time it got muddy was a few times when the band was just full throttle (Im the one, Hot For Teacher) that it got so loud from just the intensity of it all. It seemed like they played EVERYTHING.

Highlights: You really got me, Mean Street, Little Guitars, Unchained, Beautiful Girls, Dance the night away

Lowpoints: Little Dreamer, (Oh) Pretty Woman and I'll Wait. Now, these songs are fine, but Im just not a huge fan of Ill wait so I could do without it. Little dreamer because of its slower pace seemed out of place and Pretty woman just didnt fit for some reason. I'd happily have left those songs out for Hear About It Later, Sinners Swing, Hang Em High, Cant get that stuff no more, or feel your love tonight or god forbid an instrumental version of Humans Being, or Poundcake or Best of Both or somethin. I know its not about the sammy era, but give a dog a bone. I hate that they are just ignoring the era.

The show was intense and fun. Dave's shtick was not too bad, though i did roll my eyes when he pulled out those chains and a few of his facial expressions were kinda over the top. But his voice seemed good. My buddy who went with said he saw Dave on the Sam and Dave tour and he was horrible.

Ed was fucking on i swear sometimes theres a foot and a half between his index finger and his pinkie finger. He was crystal clear, which was best demonstrated with Little guitars.

Favorite tune of the eve, Dance the night away.

Let me start by getting this out of the way-I love all VH-Sammy and Dave both. Although the sound sucked as expected in Consucko, it was better than other acts I've seen there.

I don't know what it was, but it just wasn't happening for me. I don't know if it was that I missed Mike, or was turned off by Wolf, although he did do a great job! I kept feeling like they almost got it right but without Mikey it wasn't all it could have been but oh well.Or was it Dave's low energy compared to Sammy's high energy last time out or what. It just fell flat. Ed played well but he seems to fill in his solo's with his tricks and trademark licks ad nauseum. I felt like every song they did some break down in the middle where they would bring it way down, which was very annoying. Never really seemed to take off. Al was awesome but like someone else here said he looks like the cript keeper. Dude looks every bit of 50 something unlike Ed and Dave.

It doesn't matter but I think there was help on the background voc's. As I said no big deal, but there is no way Ed, especially Ed, and Wolf sounded that good. I hate to be the spoiler of such other great reviews but this is how it came off to me.

I think that in this day in age the internet almost ruins the show you will see coming up becuase I had literally seen every song clip on YouTube. I knew the setlist, the red flag, the confetti at the end and even what they would be wearing. Nothing left to be suprised about and it's my own fault as curiosity killed the cat.

But they did seem happy as could be and seemed like they would make it through the tour. I only hope they don't tour for the next year and a half so we could all get the new music we've been waiting for!

Looking forward to seeing Sam and Mike next week in Indy. Hoping it won't hit me the same way.

I am sure you will enjoy the heavy half, and God forbid anyone giving them a negative review.

The new Van Halen rocked last night, and they will as long as they got the magic cat in the top hat.

He's right, it should be the "Heavy Half," heavy on energy and fan interaction, unlike what I saw last night. Except for during Ed's solo he walked to the start of the catwalk and saw a kid maybe 6 or 7 being held up by his dad. Ed rushed into his front pocket to get a pick out to hand to the kid, the best moment of the show I thought.
