my ears are stilling ringing!!!!!!!!!!!! 12 hours later!!!
what show!!!
i don't think that there is one song that i wanted them to play and they didn't. they covered all the bases! fantastic set list. little guitars was worth every penny i paid. was blown away at some song choices.
daves vocals were way low on the first song and i started to get skeptical. they fixed it and was pleased at his performance. when they stopped in the second song (i'm the one?) and dave and ed got choked up, not sure if that was real but for dave it looked like it was. i was thinking as they looked at all those people going freaking nuts, that dave must be thanking his lucky stars to be back in this situation. i could see how he could be overcome with emotion. hell the place was going so crazy that wolf smiled in disbelief. nice moment.
i looked and i couldn't find one empty seat in the place.
ed was nuts as usual. just tearing the place down with the guitar.
awesome to hear the begining of women in love in his solo.
wolf was a pleasant surprise on vocals and bass. the kid was shredding the bass. he still has to work on his stage presence though. mikey was way missed in that part of it. wolf did good though, i mean hell the kid is 16 years old and can play like that! like some one else said, if it takes wolf to keep the band together than i am all for it.
was a great show. so glad i went.
but in final word i will say that i miss sammy and mike!

Umm...this show was better than Charlotte which I didn't think was possible. Eddie was amazing, probaby the best I've ever seen him play, Al was and is always fantastic, Wolf wasn't bad, he pulled it off for the most part, I'd still perfer Mike but what are we gonna do!!! Dave is still quite the showman, the best 2 concerts I've seen in a long time, I've already got the first showed burned and blaring in the car...you people who are going to upcoming shows are in for a huge fucking treat!!!! Enjoy!

Remarkable. Your wife said the same thing to me, last evening.
And about that ceiling fan in the master bedroom...
Glad you made it back safe and sound, my friend. Get some sleep, and let us know how it went.

Jeeze, Chef the least you could have done was to fix the fan...
All right. Where to start?
Let me tell you about Greensboro itself. The town was taken over by VH last night. I had a connecting flight through Charlotte and while awaitng the plane a bunch of us just started talking about VH. I met guys who had flown in from Buffalo, Nashville, Washington D.C, Colorado...all for VH. At my hotel I met guys from Atlanta, Melbourne, New Jersey,...every person I saw seemed like they were there for the show. People came from all around to catch it.
Heading downtown, there were restauants welcoming VH back on their marquees. One of which was Hooters, which you couldn't even get a table at. I hung out at Hooters for a while with a few guys I'd met, but didn't run into any linkers. Of course, there were probably a dozen there, but I had no way of knowing. After chugging a couple, I walked down to the Colliseum.
At the colliseum, the place was jumping. The radio station was broadcasting live, blasting out DOA as I walked in. The arena was completely filled. It was difficult to even move through the crowds. Just overhearing people talking about how excited they were and where they'd come from and how long they'd waited, put a big smile on my face. Lots of dads who brought their sons, seeing how excited these kids were, some of whom weren't even born when Sammy left the group, let alone Dave. It was really something.
Finally, showtime. I was in the 12th row, just to the left of the ramp. I could practically touch the ramp from where I was sitting--paid face value just two weeks ago for my ticket. The show begins and everybody was on their feet--and not a single person sitting around me sat down the rest of the night.
Eddie was on fire right from the start. His playing was clear and crisp and totally focused, probably the best I have ever heard him. That he seemed like he was having the time of his life didn't hurt either. I don't know if I've ever seen him happier, there really did seem to be some real comradarie between he and Dave.(Side note, did anybody else notice that Ed looked like he was wearing a wedding band?)
Alex was rock solid. In other words, he was Alex. Does this guy ever have an off night? Truly underrated and the backbone of the group. I enjoyed his solo more than I ever did before as well.
Wolfie was solid throughout the show. Though it was very disappointing not having Mike there, I'll give Wolf credit for stepping in admirably. As has been mentioned before, he needs to work on his stage presence a bit, but the playing was there.
Dave? Today we spell redemption D-A-V-E. Dave was back in his element, the toastmaster general, but a wiser, older, more mature toastmaster. Dave really shone throughout the show. His voice was in good form and he commanded the stage. He looked like the happiest man on the planet. There was a genuine emotional moment between he and Ed during I'm the One, and you could tell just how much they had missed being on stage together.
As has been stated, the set list was the same as Charlotte. To me, the only lull in the action came during Little Dreamer, as I think some momentum was lost. Fortunately, it picked back up during Little Guitars, but LD is a song they may want to think about swapping out IMO. Biggest crowd reactions? Dance the Night Away, Jamie's Cryin, Panama.
One final thought, as emotional as it seemed to be with the guys on stage, I saw just as much emotion in the audience. Men standing near me were slapping each other's backs, high fiving, I even saw one guy tearing up and getting so overcome during Little Guitars that he turned his head from the stage.
It was an amazing show, and all I can say is get your asses down to Florida so that I can do it again.

I thought the show flowed well... it's my first =VH= show..., I was just jakked to drive my metro with the silver =VH= logo on the hood to the show.....plenty of drunk ppl, having a bunch of parking lot parties.
I personally liked the addition of I'll Wait to the list, it's one of my favs, and it has been 22 years, ppl shouldn't be bitchin'. I sat sidestage top level....Eddie brought the A Game as well as the rest of the guys.....reefer was strong where i was, I got a contact buzz.... BTW, I was the one who got the "Eddie" chant started when everyone was going out the door if any of you were leaving at that particular exit.

The concert in Greensboro was very good - probably the best VH show I've ever seen overall. Dave and Ed were both teary-eyed (pretty cool to see) when they came out, and the crowd was going crazy. Ed and Dave are in amazing shape for their ages, too. The concert was strange to me in that it started out amazingly powerful but slowly lost momentum and seemed to kind of fizzle out near the end.
Ed played incredibly all night except for his solo, which was the worst solo I've ever seen or heard him do - I was pretty surprised at that.
Roth's screams were as good and strong as they ever were - again, surprising. He sounded good when he sang, but there were still many times where he doesn't sing at all, or fucks up the lyrics. His little story before Ice Cream Man was well done and funny.
Wolf was great and I really didn't miss Mike much at all. Wolf is obviously the future of the band, and he's getting unreal on-the-job training. I was impressed with the kid.
Al was absolutely top-notch - easily the most consistent of the four last night and just awesome.
They need to drop "I'll Wait" and add something like "The Full Bug" to keep the energy going. It looked like they were all genuine friends now, which was cool to see. Overall, a great concert well worth seeing!

I noticed the same thing last night --a simple gold band. However, it was on his right hand, so I wonder if it Val's ring and he moved it to hi other hand?

Great show! I have never heard DLR sing better than he did last night. Backing vocals were good! I hope to catch them again. To all of you who have tickets for upcoming shows...get ready to rock! Hope they release a dvd after the tour.

Un-fuckin' Real!
Was skeptical of DLR, because of the bootlegs I have seen and heard. He put that to rest. His vocals were amazing. Band sounded like they had rehearsed many, many times. Very tight.
Highlights (for me)- Seeing them onstage together for the first time. I like the red flag, but why not put the VH logo on it?
Dave's vocals
Eddie- he's back and better than ever.
The stage was cool, but would like to see Eddie go out.
Seeing the emotion on EVH's face. Pretty moving.
The songs. One great song after another.
It was awesome to see the entire 18,000 or whatever on their feet chanting "hey, hey, hey" during ATBL. Goosebump moment.
Areas for improvement (in my eyes)- Drop "I'll wait" and "Little Dreamer" and add "LUTS" and "Doa" or "Hear about it later" and "Secrets"
The background vocals were obviously piped in.
Although Wolfie did a fine job, I still missed Mike.
I'm sorry, but it was a tad too loud. Not much, but a tiny bit would make a big difference.
All in all, still the best show I have ever seen. If you can go, don't miss it.
One other aside, I was surprised to see so many young people there. More teens and youngsters than I thought I'd see. We stayed in Winston-Salem and there were 2 kids about 12 or 13 that stayed there who I saw a couple of rows in front of us. Pretty cool, but sad because they probably have peaked at such a young age. No way they will ever see a show any better than that.
