The show was fantastic. I thought the band was on. I was on Wolf's side of the stage 1st row of the 2nd section. I went w/ my two brothers and my sister. We all went to see DLR in 86' (Iwas twelve) and thought it would be fun to go back 20 years later together. We had a blast. This is Daves vindication tour. He sounded great and I thought it was funny when he wrapped Wolf up int he Chains during "Unchained" Te interaction between the band seemed genuine.
The only down side came when some spineless prick decided he didn't want to stand during the show (most people in our section were seated most of the evening) I think it was during "I'll Wait" when something flew between my brother and I. Just missed my head. I'm thinking "okay someones not happy w/ us rocking out and having a good time". I let it go A few seconds later, I'm hit by something in the back. Now I turn around to a mass of people, put up my hands and say WTF? The spineless prick would't fess up. A second later my brother is hit. We both turn around and sissy boy is yelling @ us to sit the down. We kindly tell him to fuck off and stand the fuck up. This is a Van Halen concert. He and his boyfriend are flipping us off and motioning for us to step outside. We again kindly instruct them to fuck off. We were having a great time. A few minutes later one of them walks down (hes about five rows behind us) And says to my brother that we should sit the fuck down because were in the front row. My brother again says something to the effect of "Fuck you , bitch , have a seat" Which the tough guy promptly did.
A few minutes later the boyfriend came down and stood next to my brother who is in an aisle seat. I put my hand on the little girls shoulder and say "Hey dude, we're just having a good time" He makes nice and shakes my hand. Then asks my brother if he is Van Halens biggest fan. He replied, "no I'm the second biggest fan, my brother is their biggest fan". Big puss walks off. As "Jump" began to unwind, we were ready to confront to the sisters, but of course, they left before the end of the show or immediatly after.
I hope the people around us enjoyed the Springer style moment. My only regret was that I wasted a song and a half on the sisters.
I don't get people like that. You're at a concert, enjoy it. If you want to sit the whole time, be prepared to stare @ peoples backs all night, or better yet, save your money and buy the DVD and watch from your sofa.

All in all, it was well worth the trip and two hours of sleep I had before work.

Remember to play nice kids, or if not be a man and don't throw shit @ people when the aren't looking.
Go see this show!

It wasn't quite this bad, but this gives you an idea how how poor the sound quality was:

I'd say that right now that the band is as tight or tighter than any clip on youtube.....without a doubt, if classic VH is the only way you like your VH served up...than you'll have the night of your life.....If you've dreamed of the day when Roth would rule the world fronting VH....then this show will not dissapoint......Ed's lost a few steps. Dave's lost a bit, Alex is unchanged and Wolfie has no chance of ever filling Mike's shoes....but in the end, it's a good show....but for me, it's not quite the mind blowing, memory inducing dream come true that some of you are experiencing.......must be my Hagar blood pouring out....or the fact that we watched the DLR era boot from Argentina on the way down and back on DVD and quickly reminded ourselves of their shortcomings in 2007.

I want to first say that I had a great time at the show ... another night of kick-ass rock and roll. I'm reading reviews about the show that seem to be on both ends of the spectrum ... and I'll talk more on that in a bit.

I thought it was pretty cool seeing the four RV's on the 6th st. side of the Verizon Center. I got down there pretty early and was able to see a fifth RV arrive and park in the under ground parking area ... I thought I was going to have a photo-op ... no photo-op.

I'm not sure if anyone else noticed this, but haven't all the shows been starting at 9:00 on the dot? Last nights show started before 9:00 ... I ended up missing the opening number ... thinking I'm leaving the Turtle with plenty of time to spare before the start of the show ... anyway, we walked in to I'm The One. Went to the show with my girlfriend (her second VH show) and our seats were alright ... we were Section 104 / Row N ... it was a bit away from the stage, but a striaght shot ...

Sound: The sound was loud, just the way I like to listen to Van Halen ... lol ... ... seriously, I was really able to hear everything ... the sound didn't seem to be muddy, and I was really trying to be critical, however having had years of air horns and sirens penetrating my right ear, I'm probably the wrong person to be giving an opinion on sound quality ... lol ...

Stage: Did anyone pick-up on the fact that Eddie set-up his mic and petal board in-front of Alex? (middle of stage). I thought this was actually a good move on Eddie's part and perhaps his tech. ... in reviews of previous shows from this tour and other years out ... Eddie likes the cord ... and this has been restrictive for him moving around the stage area and getting over to Wolfgang, because he has up to last night, been setting up on stage left (our right). I thought being in the middle of the stage allowed for him to be near Wolfgang and not have to run across the stage to get to his petals.

I stood the entire time, and just smiled from ear-to-ear. I was with my girl and a buddy of mine of 34 years. He and I were having some great flash backs of VH concerts from years ago. The crowd around us were standing primarly ... we had a few sitters ... no assholes. I have to admit, but the Greensboro crowd was upside down nuts ... D.C., I just thought would come unglued. We made noise last night and VH knew we were there to show our love ... I don't know, I just can't put my finger on it ... like 240ztt (Joe) was stating about being horse by the 5th song, well so was I ... I just absolutely love listening to Van Halen cranking out tunes that are timeless ... for me it's pretty sureal. Geez, 23 years waiting for this ... Yes, it has been so wroth the wait.

There were a few songs that had some rough starts, but the boys are very tight. I thought Eddie looked great, and sounded great ... there were either no technical problems last night or very few ... so that was good ... I thought his solo was great ... yeah, he was noddling around at times, but shit, it's Eddie and he's a guitar living legend, and he sure does love his son ... it's good to see harmony, instead of discord. K.C. must have been an off night, as I have to agree. The band seemed to be working as a team, and I really like the review by Cyclonus7 ... very cool to read an experience like that ... As for David Lee ... I think he's great ... getting up in years, but still holding his own to say the least ... I really don't care what he wears, I just want to hear him rock out tunes, BUT the captain hat ... ...

Alex is the man ... he pounds the shit out of the drums and has always been the anchor man ... He reminded me of a drummer named Buddy Rich last night for some reason ... perhaps style of drumming ... don't know, but Buddy Rich comes to mind.

Wolfgang ... yeah, this kid has a future ... if he wants it ... I've seen him twice now and he IS getting better and looser, and more comfortable with the stage and audience ... he's doing a great job ... hard shoes to fill, shoes that are truly missed without a doubt ... but being 16, shoot, he's accomplished already so much ... it will be fun to watch him musically ... we'll just have to wait and see for that ... I wonder if Wolfie will play at his high school prom this year with the band? ... lol ... sure ...

Over all, I thought the band was GREAT! Worth every penny. These guys bring it on for sure ... Go see this show if you can, you won't be disappointed.

Wolfie3-Doug, It was great meeting up with you and Derek ... I really enjoyed drinking a few with you guys and sharing VH stories. Good stuff, and YES, my girlfriend made it down ok ... we ended up back at the Turtle until show time ... yeah, yeah, I know where you two were around 5:30 ... BTW, was your car still there when you got back? We'll need to hook up in the near future ...

I can only hope that this tour isn't just a flash in the pan, but that we may actually get new music and another tour, even a Spring 2008 leg of this tour ... that would be great, but should we hold our breath? ... it's hard to say ...

Van Halen w/ David Lee Roth has been and always will be my favorite band ... we may never get this opportunity again to witness rock and roll done this way ... I rocked out with a smile on my face from ear-to-ear for two hours ... I could have done it for two days ...

Thanks VH/DLR for two memorible nights in the FALL of 2007 ...

Jimmy and Amy

First off- show was awesome! I had 4 stars about 10 deep on Wolfie side.

Same show as they've all been.

There were some minor technical issues- during I'll Wait Eddie was yelling to his tech because his mic and guitar crapped out- he had to change right after song if you guys didn't see it (and not due to diff song/guitar deal). But sorted out ok.

I honestly think Wolf wasn't feeling well- he was sweating like a bitch after the 2nd song. Ed even shot him a very nasty look at the end of one tune (maybe STIL?) when wolf kinda finished the song early. Then Ed came over while they were walking offstage during Dave's solo and was talking to him in a slightly scolding way. When they came out for ice cream man, Wolf was alittle more energetic. Did u guys see any of this like I did?

Bertinelli was there- walked by me on her way to sound board to start show. She looked awesome!

All said- GREAT SHOW!

I thought the show was great; its the first one I've been to since Charlotte.

I don't know if there were any other Linkers who were inside the ramp with the 5-stars, but it sounded really loud down there to me.

However, I lived in DC for a few years (and still come down to go go to event in Verizon alot) and I have had some experiences with the sound being fairly weak in there. I also met up with friends who ere sitting in the lower level back corner away from the stage, but they didn't complain about the sound at all.

I'm not sure if the sound quality had anything to do with the arena because the opener sounded great. Then it was real muddy when VH came on. I was 10th Row Wolfie's side so I would think that would be a good place for sound. I have to compare it to Greensboro where I was basically in the same place, opposite side & the sound was absolutely perfect. Although the solos sounded better in DC.
I just think some people are just more sensitive to sound differences than others.

Thanks a ton! I actually felt bad for rushing the end of the review but i don't get alot of time online so I wanted to get it out there while it was fresh on my mind. Here's hoping they make it back out this way for an outdoors show. Hello Nissan Pavillion!

crazy levi,

Awesome pics from D.C. My wife and a few of her friends were at the show. Your pic IMG 0530 of Dave has my wife's friend Marcie in the cowboy hat on the screen. Any chance I could get a copy of that? Maybe email? Also, do you have any others? There were 4 women sitting in the second row together, 3 of them had the hats. Thanks.

They definitely exceeded my expectations. I never thought I would say this but Roth really impressed me. Eddie was right on and sounded great. We were in Sec. 111 and unlike some of the other reviews, it sounded great with the exception of a few moments where the vocals were overdriven. I really wished they had played a second night.
