Don't even worry yourself about it. Many of us come from dysfunctional families, some of us continue to be part of dysfunctional families and can relate to your post. It can be a hard life but glad to know you came through it.

EJC & Pip:
I agree post away.... I hope as adults you went the "other" of the 2 ways you could have.
1 to follow the pattern or
2 to NOT follow and have some true joy in life.
My mom's mother (who died when my mom was 17) was an alcoholic and a nurse and an upstanding citizen of the small town they lived in
She became worse after my mom's father (who was a doctor) died of a heart attack at my mom's age of 16. So my adopted, only child mother was left with no parents at age 17.
How she turned our relatively (hehe) normal is beyond me... she does however look back with a wee bit of anger at them both for their behavior. My grandfather for not putting her in rehab more often (he would take her 1 time a year when my mom was at camp for 2 weeks) and my grandmother for adopting her when she knew she was an alcoholic...
Even so she was better off with them than with her biological family ...
Sorry off topic... back to the topic!

I hope you have found some peace as an adult. For me it was great when I was able to get out of that household, and start my own life.
So like you said "Peace bro"

Fortunately or unfortunately depending on your perspective, I've had plenty of fine examples around me that showed me how I didn't want to live my life.
And I agree on "post away or whatever you want" just thought he might want to leave out the part about wanting to kill them with a steak knife.
Ok....back on topic...

Exactly... Just goes to show that The Van Halen's are no different than the rest of us. Alot of people think that if you are rich and famous, everything is a breeze. It's not. Maybe you don't have to worry about getting a good interest rate on a car loan, but for the most part: money does not equal happiness.

I've been reading all the common threads in the past few days ... I was blessed in life not to have grown up in a house hold where this went on with parents ... but my parents weren't so blessed growing up in a house hold with my ass, I was bad ... without getting into details ... and life turned out good for me ... at 16, I was no were near as mature as Wolfgang is now ... I truly respect this kid and I find it hard to call him a kid when he is acting like an adult ... forced to act like an adult I should say ... and seems to be making all the right decisions. His fathers life is in trouble, and Wolfgang is there to save it ... Wolfgang has such a future ... I see it for him ... whether it be music or psychology or being a dad himself someday ... He is a role model for kids and adults alike ... I'm taking my 15 year old son to the 3/28 ... I'm going to point to Wolfgang and say, "He's a good kid, just like you son"
As far as the dynamics of the band goes ... I truly miss Mike, but damn I appreciate Wolfgang more and more by the day ... plus he can play base ...
When each day ends, it's ultimately Eddies health that matters ...
Hang in there Wolfgang and thank you ... The entire band and family members are in our prayers ...
Peace

I hope, for your son's sake, that VH not only shows, but puts on the type of show that I took my 15 year old to last month.

My son was still speachless after the house lights came back on. It didn't hurt that we were only about 25 ft from the stage; not floor, but man was it cool! Has been listening to VH on his Pod nearly non-stop since then. Yeah, it was definitely priceless!
