Holy crap. I was joking when I wrote the above but they actually just said "Ben Roethlisberger es golpeado" as Jones just sacked Big Ben. Then the announcer added a very loud "OYYYYYY!!!".

I'd be willing to root for them if Mike could run out on the field and hit somebody! I do hope he and the team does well, though - just not at the expense of teams that I root for!

"Ben" is "Horseradish Tree" in Spanish? That works for me.
Quite the defensive battle going on in this game.
[Edit] No sooner I write that then the Steelers score with ease.
[Edit #2] Now the Titans march down in 3 plays. Now we have a game.
Hines Ward would smile even if he had bleeding hemroids.

I could appreciate the "Titans" if they didn't have such a goofy-ass nickname. "Titans" - goofy-ass. They do a decent job it seems every year and stay under the radar so you don't get sick of hearing about them week after week. Of course, I could appreciate them a lot more if they were he Oilers. The Houston Oilers.
Speaking of goofy-ass, what the hell was that Levis commercial all about?

I'm missing out on the American commericals. The Mexican one's are pretty dumb. They keep playing one with a guy conversing with a dog about car insurance. Makes that damned Geico gekko look charming.

The line is 1.5, which is pretty interesting considering the Panthers are at home, and it's their chance to avenge that playoff home loss to Arizona. Not going to predict a score. Just want a good game and hope both teams come out of it healthy.

I certainly won't run my mouth about what "my" team will do. I think this game could go either way, and it will probably come down to discipline and holding on to the ball. My confidence level is a little low with this Panther team right now. And we have a hole in the d-line big enough for Della Reese to exploit. In the end, I'm taking Carolina purely for the sake of being a homer, not because I see any advantage they may have over the Eagles.
Here's to a good contest and indeed, bumps and bruises both teams can live with.

Great game to open the season. Glad to see the Titans lose whenever possible. Makes it that much easier for the Colts.

Bears start out with a rough schedule--at Green Bay then Pittsburgh at home. Could easily go 0-2 and dig a hole for themselves. But for some reason, the Beloved Orange and Blue seem to always play to the level of their competition--both downwards and upwards. Last year nobody had us winning the season opener against Indy, but we came out firing and blew them out on their turf. Hopefully we'll do the same Sunday night in Lamblow.
I like what I've seen so far from the offense. Jay's got 'em looking pretty decent. It's the not the Rams of the Warner era, but if the O-line can stay healthy I can see us putting up around 17-20 a game.
Defense is where the question marks lie. Digging the D-line this year (should get more pressure up the middle) and the linebacking crew is among the best in the league. But there's some serious holes in our corners/safety crew. Need some of the young guys to step it up and make some plays or they could get shredded.
BEAR DOWN!

I'm really glad football is starting. But as a Raiders fan, I've never had less pre-season enthusiasm than now. The lack of cohesiveness, the crappy showing against the Saints, the Cable jaw crusher story, and now this Seymour "Non trade". Here's a blurb from the Dan Patrick show blog:
Quote:
Dan's NBC teammate Rodney Harrison joined the show to talk about the upcoming season. Here are some of his takes ...
-- Harrison said he talked to Richard Seymour. Harrison said that Oakland is in chaos. The coach hit an assistant, the best quarterback was cut, players don't like JaMarcus Russell ... "It's an embarrassment to the NFL," Harrison said.
Harrison didn't come out and said it, but he thinks that Seymour won't report for a while.
"That's devastation to a football career," Harrison said. "He's a five-time Pro Bowler and he goes to Oakland?"
Harrison said if he was traded to Oakland he would have driven to Chicago and jumped off the Sears Tower.

The senile version of Al Davis reminds me of drunken owner Robert Irsay of the Baltimore Colts in the late 70's.

I thought Daniel Synder was the worst owner in the NFL, however Al Davis is challenging him for this title. The Raiders are quickly becoming the Clippers of the NFL. The best thing for Davis to do is step down and give up control, however he won't do that. Sigh.
