Its hard to believe something so harmless looking took Markov out for all that time. Its always a shame to see such a talented player to have to miss so much time. Ah well they have Hall Gill to fall back on.

Pens had a nice opening deal to raise the banner. Lots of cheers for 25, 29, 71 & 87.

My kids had their jerseys out early so, I knew the Rangers were in trouble.

Strong goals from Malkin & Crosby. TK had a nice deflection. Gaborik was strong in the OFF zone for the NYR.

FLuery had a nice save on a 2 on 1 to keep it close. Hank was strong as well on a few shots from Staal.

Huge fight between Godard & Brash. Brash nailed him with a left to start off. Godard came back strong with a few rights of his own. Solid draw.

Pretty even game overall. Both teams carried play for extended periods of time. Saw some thing I liked and some things I didn't like last night.

LIKES

-- The team got faster as a whole. It was noticeable.
-- I hope Gaborik can stay healthy. He has a gear that no one else has.
-- Other than Gaborik, I thought the 2 best forwards for the Rangers were my man crush Ryan Callahan and Chris Drury. That may have been Drury's best game as a Ranger.
-- I give him a lot of shit, but Wade Redden played a solid game last night. If he can keep it up, he'll get booed a lot less at MSG this year.
-- Michael Del Zotto is going to be a good one. 19 years old, and he already has some great vision on the ice. I think he'll end up back in juniors to get stronger and work on his defensive zone play.
--I thought Hank looked good. 2 of the 3 goals were on deflections.

DISLIKES

-- Some of the same problems keep popping up from season to season. As mentioned, 2 of the 3 goals were on deflections. The Rangers don't clear the crease.
-- The power play still stinks. 0-4. Torts, please play two left handed or two right handed shots together on the points. How about we try to set up some one timers from the point?
-- I don't know if their still learning the system, but the defensemen got caught pinching a little too often.
-- Hopefully, they can get into better shooting position to get the shots through. At one point in the 3rd, the announcers said the Pens had blocked 26 shots on the night.

All in all, I think the Rangers have some things to work on, but I'm hopeful that they can have a good season. I'll be at MSG tonight for the home opener. LET'S GO RANGERS!!!!!

No sarcasm intended there at all right? It's actually nice to know that it wasn't as a result of that little prick Grabovski or from a DIRTY hit by Komisarek.

Funny because almost the same thing happened to Lang last year. This team's luck just SUCKS.

But it will be a GREAT opportunity for our D to prove what their made of, EARLY in the season.

Finally !!!

I get some hockey tonight !

Sucks that it's up against the Buckeye game, TV ratings might be a bit low locally, as this is still a football town. But the building is sold out, so that's a good thing. Can't wait.

I went all in with my vcash, they should win this one easily.

Pens played a pretty average road game. Kept in close then got a late one to go to OT. Crosby won it in the shootout. 2 more pts.

Tavares got on the board with a goal & assist. He won't get much pub on Long Island, but he could suprise some people this year.

++++++++++++

Flyers also looked REALLY good again. The OFF is clicking. They are going to score a lot this year.

+++++

To many other games on tonight, damn. Have to hit some NHL on the fly in a bit.

Leaving Helsinki taking three of four points. Not bad at all

Now back to the States, no game until Thursday though. Zach, you ready to go for that one? I have a feeling your Red Wings will take it, but if we decide to start Antti Niemi, my feelings may change.

Niemi had three career games under his belt before yesterday. He shut out if you ask me a pretty solid offensive team. Meanwhile, Huet leaked like a sieve in Friday's game. Overpaid piece of shit. I know it's early but, it's just the same horseshit we've seen from Cristobal since he started his tenure here.

My prediction is that Niemi takes the starting spot at the end of the month. I really do think he's THAT good, thought so last year too.

I believe he was on their Top D pairing at one point.

It's all a conspiracy. Toskala is throwing games to make Monster look like the better goalie. Vesa is getting some dough under the table. Believe me. I am sure of it. Burke didn't fly all the way out to Europe just so this kid could be a back-up goaltender.

The last part I truly believe. The stuff before that.......Maybe.....

Still almost beat the Habs. Its only two games into the freakin season. I didn't see any soft goals in the Caps game except the first maybe but how many times have you seen Ovie shoot from behind the d and score like that?
They beat up on Boston pretty bad.

Almost only counts in horsehoes and hand-granades. The Leafs deserved to WIN the opening game.

But.....they didn`t. You made the original comment about Gill. Not me.
