It is nothing more than a relationship that went south and for some media, they want to stir up this type of whatever anytime they talk to Ed. MA keeps saying Ed needs to let go but in the interview Ed said loud and clear that he wishes CF all the success in the world. Seems to me like he got over Sam and MA a long time ago.
It's amazing to me how some see the VH world through red, white, and black colored glasses. But it's not unexpected considering your favorite VH album and song are "Everyone without Sam or Gary."

"If they didn't want Ed to bring up MA, they shouldn't have asked him if he has heard CF"? The problem is not that the interviewer asked the question, but how EVH answered it, so I don't understand the point of this sentence. You make it sound like the interviewer was asking questions fed by MA. Plus, EVH could've commented simply yes or no without then seguing into his laughable version of MA quitting, which is EVH spinning like a political operative. As if MA wouldn't still be in VH if EVH wanted him to be.

As for EVH saying "loud and clear that he wishes CF all the success in the world," that was also said in the same breath where he wondered aloud -- without prompting by the interview -- what a "supergroup" is, which can only be taken as him scoffing at MA and/or SH being considered worthy of the moniker.

"Seems to me like he got over Sam and MA a long time ago"? If he were over them, he wouldn't have to continue to spout his version of their departures when the interviewer didn't even ask the question, would he? Most tellingly, he wouldn't keep telling versions of their departures that doesn't pass the laugh test. Maybe I see this because I actually have spent a lot of time in my offline activities analyzing interviews and interview transcripts, but I don't think my analysis is that profound in this instance, to be perfectly honest. What EVH is really saying and trying to accomplish is all right there in the interview transcript, if you really want to see it.

I don't think he was rating the latter part of the DLR era either with that comment. The implication of what he's saying is fairly obvious to me. The energy and intensity of the early part of VH (i.e., probably through "Fair Warning") was something special that no band ever recaptures. Zeppelin proved that as well. Chickenfoot is at the point right now that VH was from 1978-81 in regards to energy and intensity (no, I'm not saying quality), but if they stay together for 3-4 CDs then I would imagine that the energy and intensity would diminish gradually, too. It's just a natural course of events for bands.

How come Ed doesn't talk about the 2004 tour much?

Seems from what he said he kinda knew VH didn't want him hanging and playing out with Sam but he did it anyway. I'm not blaming Mike for doing so and not being a doormat. But it seems he knew that might be a problem and he did it anyway. That is not a FU to Ed, thats Mike having a friend, bored of sitting around and wanting to do something...still in Ed's warped state it seems this is a big part of the problem and because of it he cut Mike out.

I don't know if Mike sat around doing nothing waiting for Ed things would have been different now but Mike I think got tired of it and moved on and maybe deep down figured if they are that fucked up to limit me like this then fuck it...not fuck em I quit..but I'm doing this despite the consequences. Maybe he was surprised how intense Ed came down on him cause of it but it sounds to me like he maybe knew it was possible.

Do I see it wrong?

Wtf. Mike said in that cabo dvd..ed and al didn't have a problem with him playing with sam, but did with dave. Now dave is in the band and mike is not. LOL This logic is wacko. Eddie is a compulsive liar. Hope i act like little high school girls when im 50 something.

Mike was booted so Ed could play with his kid. It's blatently obvious.

Ed has the power, Mike did not. End of story.
