Just saddened by the news coming out of IRAN. Also, didn't realize we had a linker living there either.

Aristotle, I hope that your country continues to fight for the freedoms that all people SHOULD be entitled to. If a wrong or a crime has been committed against the peaceful voters who want to see IRAN moved into another direction, I hope and pray that victory comes to all of those in the fight for change.

Haven't had much of a chance to get caught up on the views of Mir-Hossein Mousavi, but I do hope his stance on leading IRAN are far more different and peaceful then that of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

Stay safe and continue to make sure your voices are heard loud and clear.

I appreciate all the supports and concern that has been expressed here, I really do. I know that there is a small degree of risk in what I am doing, but I have enough friends to make sure that if I get into trouble, I could get away with a small warning.

In any case there are people out there risking a lot more than I am, going up against fully armored thugs from Southern Lebanon with nothing but a rock or a stick. So I think that informing a small community of Internet users is the very least I can do.

Today I will be going to a rally myself. It will be my first time. Its going to be a big one because its in a big place (7th Tir Square). I will let you all know how it went. But if you see it on TV, I will be the small dot in a white shirt!!

Wish me luck.

Ageing rocker, Ted Nugent was held briefly for treatment at an Arizona hospital after an altercation with a six year old Chinese girl, sources say.
It appears that the famously right-wing musician, seen above sporting a wig-mullet and full body beard, had made derogotary comments about the girl's father, a communist party official from Ghangzhou.
Just moments after this photo was taken, the plucky girl, whose name remains unreleased, socked the Nuge with a straight left followed by a roundhouse kick, as she screamed "You don't lock. You don't loll. You illelevant".
Sources say that the Nuge will still be performing his scheduled concert on his poorly attended "American dickhead" tour, tomorrow night. Controversy has followed the tour, which includes live on stage killings of illegal aliens. One unwilling attendee, named Jason, of Cuban - Jewish ancestry, said quite succinctly; "Ted's a fag".

Just got back.

I'm not one to exaggerate so I have to say that it was very calm and peaceful. A few hundred thousand people ( I think around 300k to 500K) marched from one of Tehran's main squares through the city center.

The theme of the march was SILENCE. We marched in a silent protest with arms up in the air giving peace signs and holding up all sorts of cards and banners. People were very much at ease, but there was a quiet determination in everybody's eyes that was unmistakable.

Lots of messages being passed around the crowd either in by word of mouth or small leaflets being passed down the crowd:

"Tomorrow's protest is in front of the UN building at 14.00....."
"Friday everybody go to the Friday Prayers...."

It was a special atmosphere. Then again everybody knew that it wouldn't stay that way long. Lots of people holding signs that advised everybody to go home before it got dark. Now that I am home I can hear the familiar sounds of cars honking. Another night of disobedience is about to start.

The authorities are getting more serious in their actions now. Last night two people got shot in front of the Television center only 5 minutes drive from my home. Tomorrow a lot of people are going to mosques as a symbolic gesture to all the people who have died within the last week.

I guess like me you are all wondering where this is leading to. My guess is that on Friday the Supreme Leader Khamenei will declare his final word on the elections. Something to the effect that he will no longer tolerate any more demonstrations and we should all wait for the result of the inquiry which is being made by the Guardian Council.

Whether people will take heed or not is anybody's guess. But the massive turnout must have gotten the attention of the powers that be.

Death to the Dictator and God is Great chants have started again from the roof tops. You always know who has been screaming their lungs out at night, because the next day their voice is very rusty.

Okay, it jammed the first time, but I got it to load the second. Can you tell us what the people are yelling? Sounds like the same thing over and over.

Its the two main ones.

1. God is Great (Allah-u-Akbar which is Arabic but the Persian translation wouldn't sound as scary!!)

2. Death to the Dictator (Marg bar Dic-tah-tor)

The significance in the God is Great chanting is that this was how Khomeini encouraged people to show their opposition to the Shah. Its a very clever technique. Lets people know that they are not alone and lets the authorities know that they have their hands full. Now Khomeini's own method is being used against those who profess to carry his torch.

Tonight though they had a couple of new ones mixed in, because today's HUGE protest was essentially a funeral procession for the people killed in the protests. They were mostly killed by the plain clothes militia's that you see in the pics I posted. So tonight's chants included:

1. Death to the Basiji - the Islamic Militia
2. My martyred brother, your vote I will recover (Persian version of the rhyme sounds much better of course).

Thanks so much for the information, it really does help put the video a bit more into context for those of us on the 'outside.'
