Default help with effects loop?

Ok, this might have been asked before, and I did look though most of threads here and could'nt find anything, so here goes. I need help hooking up my pedals. Here's what I have:

Peavey JSX head/XXX Cabinet (412 bottom)
boss super chorus
boss DD-3 Delay
boss 9 band EQ pedal
digitech digiverb reverb
MXR phase shifter
Zakk Wylde Wah-wah
boss chromatic tuner
MXR Gain pedal

My question is in which order do I hook up the chorus, delay, phase shifter, and reverb in my effects loop to get the best result? On the back of my amp I have the effects return/send both set at 5 (12 o'clock). I know that my wah, chromatic tuner and gain pedals all need to go in-line with the guitar input and then direct into the amp. Any advise would be great. I have that curt mitchel vh dvd and he does say that the delay needs to be before the phase shifter, but doesn't get to into too much more than that. Help!

Here's what I'd suggest.

Delay, phase, chorus, reverb

Take your EQ and try it in-front of that line up and you can color your tone going in or try it with on the tail end of the line a color it coming out then see which sounds better to you. Another option would be to run that EQ in-line with you wah/gain/tuner. The best bet is to sit down and try every possible combination to find the sound you like.

First, remember you are free to hook up the pedals in the way you feel they sound better.
My suggestion (a simple rule) is to put the ambience effects always last, while the other effects first. NEVER put the gain/OD/DIST pedals after echo or reverbs.

In your case:

1. boss chromatic tuner (so you have always your clean sound into the tuner build a bypass to exclude it from the chain when not used)
2. boss 9 band EQ pedal (doing so you modify the sound of your guitar before the effects, and you don't modify the sound of your effectd guitar)

3. Zakk Wylde Wah-wah
3. boss super chorus
3. MXR phase shifter (you can put those in any order you like, it's a rare case you'll use them together)

4. MXR Gain pedal (to boost your signal after the effects, if you put the gain pedal before the effects you'll work on a distorted sound)

5. YOUR AMP INPUT

SEND
6. boss DD-3 Delay
7. digitech digiverb reverb (so you'll give ambience even to the echo repeats)
RETURN

Try that way and you won't be disappointed.
USE ALWAYS THE BEST QUALITY CABLES YOU CAN AFFORD!!!!

I forgot to say that if you want a wet sound a la OU812 (songs like source of infection or cabo wabo) try putting the chorus (with slow rate) after the boost pedal. Try also putting the phaser in your effect loop BEFORE the echo and reverb to have a more dramatic effect.

re: EQ: The old Boogie amps which had graphic EQs on them put them after the gain stages and after the effects loop but before the power amp stage. Placement is really relative, though. It's whatever sounds best to you.

re: placement: I've always put a rather dry low rate/low sweep chorus first in the chain just to give the sound some body and then delays and flange later, but still only enough effect to give the amp ambience. Again, there are no rules though except the best practice of putting distortion before anything else to drive the chain.

Ok, I just got back in town and saw that I got some very cool advice. So you want me to put the chorus in line with the guitar input? makes sense, though. The only time I really use the eq pedal is when I'm playing to stuff like smashing pumpkins, drowning pool, creed, you know, the grung stuff that the Peavey JSX wans'nt really desighned to do. I don't think Joda(satch) had this in mind when he went to peavey. I have pulled themxr gain pedal completely out of the loop. I was only using it when I had my old Marshall 2 channel AVT 50 halkstack. Now that I have 3 channels, theres really no need for it. I will try this tommorrow morning. Also, how do I post pics on here so I can show ya my stuff?
