It would sell low anyway, but that number doesn't include all the free copies that came with the GH5 offer.

That is actually a good point.

Why buy the cow when you are getting the milk for free.

because a cow can provide you more than just milk? I suppose if all you want is milk then there is no point in buying the cow but think about everything else you get? A cow can provide affection and hours of companionship. A cow produces fertilzer. If you're into that sort of thing, you could kill the cow and eat its meat, which would last for quite a while. Then you have the skin which can be used to make clothing and blankets.

So you see, there are various reasons why one would buy a cow despite getting its milk for free.

It appears that the famously right-wing musician, seen above sporting a wig-mullet and full body beard, had made derogotary comments about the girl's father, a communist party official from Ghangzhou.
Just moments after this photo was taken, the plucky girl, whose name remains unreleased, socked the Nuge with a straight left followed by a roundhouse kick, as she screamed "You don't lock. You don't loll. You illelevant".
Sources say that the Nuge will still be performing his scheduled concert on his poorly attended "American dickhead" tour, tomorrow night. Controversy has followed the tour, which includes live on stage killings of illegal aliens. One unwilling attendee, named Jason, of Cuban - Jewish ancestry, said quite succinctly; "Ted's a fag".

I don't think the packaging of VH with Rock Band and down sales in general can account for just 64,000 units moved. That's a failure regardless how you spin it. Maybe, just maybe those awful reviews actually had some merit to them.

And you may think VH is just a victim of circumstance (again) but the coincidences in these guys' (EVH) failed career choices are piling up high.

Ten years from now, Ed will be doing an interview with Guitar World saying that because the Guitar Hero: Van Halen sold so poorly it is the fans fault they didn't put out a new album.

I think it was a perfect storm of a few different things, not the least of which being VH's greatly diminished popularity. What I still don't get is why it was released only a couple of days before Christmas. It was obviously ready long before then. Release it December 1st and do three plus weeks of press blitzing.

Of course, the fact they were literally giving the thing away with GH5 tells you the company had no faith in it to begin with. Thus it became a self-fulfilling prophecy.

I never saw any real advertising for it. Aerosmith's and definitely Metallica's had some pretty intense marketing behind them. Metallica had that TV commercial and everything. Like so many things with Van Halen the band over the recent past, things were done half-ass. It's a half-ass game with half-ass marketing. What do you expect?

I was at Blockbuster the other day and all of the other GH gamse and Rock Band games were out. The only one there was GH VH, so sad how this band has become so irrellevant and pathetic.

Have started seeing some posters in game shops over here. Pretty bizarre, the first time the words Van Halen have made it into shop windows in decades probably.

Yeah because a game being in stock when you're there equals irrelevancy.

When you go to the same Blockbuster 3 times in a week for your son's Wii games and the same game is the only one of its kind there. Yes, they are irrellevant and have been since BALANCE.

OK, a few things to consider (forgive me if I'm repeating some things)

1. Previous sales does not mean sales will keep going up. If somebody bought World Tour, they have the guitar, and they play the games. Maybe they are downloading songs, maybe they are not. Maybe they are buying the next game, maybe not (especially if they do not like the song list)
2. Yes, VH is not as popular as Metallica right now. It is a different era. Maybe Activision (and Rock Band) saw the market saturated so they went after an older group of people. No matter what, not every game player will purchase each Guitar Hero game. (My 1st was GHWT for $39.99 at Big Lots so I would have the guitar for Guitar Hero VH. Maybe by getting this age group they are looking for a more diverse audience. Considering the GH nuts out there that state it doesn't have all of the high tech features, I truly believe they are going for an older audience. VH's current popularity has nothing to do with it.
3. Guitar Hero 5. How many of those folks purchased this just because it was free VH? How many on vhlinks did? I bet a large %. How many purchased Guitar Hero 5 because they were getting 2 for 1? I bet a large number did. How many would have purchased Guitar Hero 5 without VH? I don't know. But I predict they might have purchased Rock Band instead.
4. As for the used sales. See #3. Many people actually did purchase Guitar Hero 5 for Guitar Hero 5 and NOT Van Halen. These people would go to sell them at Game Stop/Ebay/etc. These people got it free and didn't want it to begin with. For you folks to say it is pathetic because it is so cheap is totally disregarding the fact that it came free with a game. $15 is more than free the last time I checked. If you purchased something and got something free, would you sell it? If so, you are not the only one. Supply and Demand.
