Classic Dave!
[QUOTE=sixstring
We were standing right by a Doppler display, and someone asked Dave if he wanted to be a weatherman. He said: "the forecast is always the same with me: high tonight, low tomorrow!"[/QUOTE]
Fucking classic! I almost spit Diet Coke out my nose when I read that quote.....

LOL! The SECOND I get that one down, note-for-note, THEN and ONLY then will I consider mahself accomplished!
Anyway, right now, I'm running a Line 6 AX212 100 watt combo:
with the EVH Phase 90, MXR Flanger (soon to be replaced with the EVH model), a DigiTech Whammy II, and a BBE Sonic Stomp out in front.
Any other effects (including wah) I might need are covered nicely by the amp, but when it comes to the classic VH phase and flange, there's NO SUBSTITUE for the real deal.
The sound clips that are on the MySpace site I think are from gigs at least 4 years ago and, believe it or not, I was using a Carvin acoustic / keyboard amp and doing all the amp modeling / effects on the floor using a Boss ME-3... ...it did a pretty damn good job, though...
BTW, this reminds me, I need to repost all my stuff in the Gear thread...

Great story and pics! Thanks for sharing! Only sad part was the comment of "your Eddie looks better than the real Ed". Sad but true.

Thanks for the info Bill, Those are nice line 6 amps. Wish I had one those, nowa days. I've sold my "biggo" amps/cabs as these days I'm just "gigging with myself" I've scaled down to a simple, older Line 6 Spider (not the newer Spider II) that I use as "plain jane" for transporting with no other effects, stomp bxes etc It works OK for a solid state amp
As far as an amp for modeling, I've struggled with using "do all" modeling effects units on some Amps due to the coloring of tone. I've heard from many that recommend just a simple transparent keyboard amp for those 'Do All" effects units. One similar to the carvin you used. I'm using a Digitech GNX now and getting great stereo sound just thru my PC with head phones or my Fostex monitors, but when I play the same VH presets thru some guitar amps, it goes to hell.
I could go on but hate to get off the topic of your cool thread ..
Sorry, carry on

OK. This is probably the most enjoyable thread I have read in a long time. I don't know where to start. LOL.
Congrats on getting to meet The Man. Thats a huge thrill. Worth every penny of the airfare, I'd say.
Thanks for sharing your experience and the pictures are excellent, right down to showing us the sign in sheet. LMAO.
Thanks for the background on your band. I have heard good things about you guys and am going to check out your music at home tonite.
Those magazine covers are awesome!
You are a great tribute to DLR, sixstring.
God bless!

That's the way I kinda feel about it. The only band that makes me forget how pathetic tribute bands are would be the Atomic Punks.
I personally believe that rather than paying tribute, these guys are really just trying to put themselves in the shoes of their hero's since they have no ability to write anything of significance on their own.
But yes, to each their own.

LOL! Actually, that one's not mine! I played it one night as a favor to a good friend of mine. Mine's actually pretty legit...

What's really amazing to me is how much a certain guitar player looks so much like a young Eddie. Not only that I've heard him play in person. Ed has nothing on him.
