If he had his way I'd bet he'd remove Valerie from Wolfie's birth certificate like he did Mike on the album covers on their website.

So I strongly encourage my fellow linkers to NOT support another tour, vote with your wallets and send the loud and clear message that before touring they NEED to release another album. This guy has been on a 10 year "insulting the fans" binge. It's really time to stop.

If VH releases anything pre-1997 quality level, fans would support it. Now cowboy up and get to work, damn it!
To that end, I think TommyTom did a great service. I imagine there's alot of GW readers on here that only buy when VH is on the cover. I imagine some will be pretty disgusted by what they read here and not buy this issue. i sure as hell won't. This will be the first VH issue I don't buy. Ed's always been a little flaky, but this stuff is just full of contept for the fans IMO. Absolute proof you can't judge a book by it's cover huh?
Tommy, you must have been pretty shocked reading it.

Count me out. No new music, no tour for me.

Ed is such a child. The world doesn't behave how he wants it to, so he takes his ball and runs home.

To think I was actually saving for an EVH Wolfgang. Not just because it's from Ed, it's gotten some killer reviews, but screw it. I don't need to put my very hard earned money into the pocket of some self centered prick like he's become.
I love his music and his contributions to the instrument, but I'll be damned to buy ANY EVH stuff after the lack of respect he just showed. Not even a pick.
Hope he/GW get alot of feedback over this article. I gotta say, I prepared for a certain level of BS, or a sales pitch. Was'nt expecting that. Quite surprised given his recent smiles & chuckles routine.

Like the saying about putting lipstick on a pig its still a pig.

Put some fake chompers in Ed's mouth, have him make a few more public appearances. Ed's still an alcoholic, druggie asshole.

He basically came right out and spit in the face of his fans who have stood by waiting him to get sober in hopes of getting some new material. Instead he appears to be looking to cash in with another tour and to promote what? A video game, a new line of guitars (again), some sneakers? FUCK YOU EDWARD VAN HALEN!

Here's my questiuon, why does the "band" need a bass player if they're not gonna record shit? If this is true then Ed needs to get his ass kicked by life some more, he hasn't learned shit.

VH conjures up a certain image., and if its a hair outside that image it won't be accepted. what if we do put something out? first thing people are going to say is that its not as good as the classics. people forget, we put out 3 new songs for BOBW and they were never even reviewed, and when we played them live everyone just stood there. nobody said anything about them. why go to the trouble, spend all that time in the studio, and tons of your own money, since labels don't put shit out any more, when people are only going to complain about it or ignore it or download it for free on the internet? we may not record anything new again. there is satisfaction in it, but not when it comes solely at your own expense and when people are only going to shoot it down no matter what you do'.
Damn..Ed is one fucked up individual. This 'Boo...Hoo...fans are not going to like my music' just proves what a weak minded, limp wristed, wet brained, ageing pathetic ex rock star he really is. SAD.
That said, I do think we will get new music next year. Ed just needs to prove to his fans that he is above all the blogging and speculation. He need to prove that he doesn't care what others think, when in reality, when one reads the verbal diarrhea above, it proves that's all he cares about.

Edit: The reason "everyone just stood there" when you played the 3 new song on the '04 tour is because "everyone" was pissed about paying $200 to see a drunk play 3 shitty songs.

An associate of my ex-wife in the management biz told me years ago that Ed was a paranoid delusional, and this was back in 88'. I did'nt really take it too seriously then, but given the way he's been for the past decade, I get it now. What he said totally fits that description. It's like "it's everyone else doing these things to me." It's them not me." I had thought most of the worst was coming from being on the sauce. Well it's obvious to me that he's cooked his gray matter for far too long. Problem is now he's "sober", but he's substituted reality, for his skewed version. It's too bad really. I feel more pissed over this not because i feel he owes me something, but more that he's basically just shit over his own future; thrown in the towel without even trying. As a musician, you ain't gonna please everybody.....Ever. So his main concern is some ar'ent gonna like what you do; so what's the point of trying? What happened to his philosophy of " I believe if the four of us truly like something....there's bound to be a few million more that will....Take it or leave it!" Far cry from the Ed of old huh?

"Hey Wolf....You seen my balls?"

This is nothing short of stunning. How can this nitwit go from being positive and hopeful in February (Billboard) to whiny, wounded and walking around with a chip on his shoulder now?

This whole "I've got tons of music but why should I put it out?" argument is nothing more than a self-serving and expedient way of stating he's lost his nerve and possibly what's left of his sanity. Can you think of any true artist pulling such a shameless act of sheer cowardice? This "Poor little Eddie Van Halen" routine got old years ago.

What's really galling in all of this is the sense of expectation raised by the bonehead himself. Showing up at sports events, in video games, on sitcoms and award shows, all in order to do what? NOT create new music and go back out on tour to rehash a past that, given the band's current line up, never existed in the first place?

Way to go Ed. Terrific marksmanship.
