Why does Eddie owe us another record? Why does he owe us anything?
Come on, think about it!

Nobody has ever said that Ed OWES us a record.
Look at it this way....If I told you REPEATEDLY that I was going to give you candy ....."Hey I'm going to give you some candy!.....CANDY!!!!....I'm going to get the candy....I'm busy buying the candy....Did I mention I'm going to give you candy!!!!".
And then the candy never shows up and you're waiting 11 years......You're going to be wondering....
"WHERE'S MY FUCKING CANDY?!?!?!?"

Ed always said if you want do a tour you must have a new record first (1996)
Dave said that they are a band ,go to the future not the pasture (2007)
Ed is not retire , he sells signature guitars , gear, shoes etc.

The Van Halen tour was such a success. Were you pleasantly surprised?
You never know. But I do know this. Janie and I are getting married on the 27th of June, and then we'll go on a honeymoon. Then Dave, Wolfie, Alex and I are going into the studio and record some new music and go on tour about a year from now.
Did the Van Halen tour help fire up some new musical ideas?
No, I am always writing, you know. But we're a true band now. It wasn't just a reunion one-off thing. I've already gone to Dave's house four or five times over the last month. I've got so much music. It's just trying to figure out what Dave's into because we haven't written together in a long time. But it's great. It feels like we've always felt in the beginning. But I'm sober, so it's different. He's sober, so it's different. It's a wonderful feeling.
Hang in there!

Because a certain guitar player once said he had 10 albums worth of material... and that you can't do a tour without a new album... and that musicians make music until the day they die... and that he'd never be a retro band. That's pretty frustrating.
I'd have more respect for the guy if he dissolved the "band" at this point and continued his obvious focus on making overpriced signature EVH crap.
You can give Lord Edward a daily reach-around all you want, but others choose to demand dinner and a movie first, because we were told we'd be fed and flick'd. Meet us in the future, not the pasture.

This is quickly becoming old news. How long ago did he say that now?
As usual with Edward, it is just generalities, no specifics. I'll believe it when there is a release date. Until then there is no good reason to listen to the guy.
C'mon James! You are an evidence-based guy! What's the evidence for this guy being on the up and up? And on the flip side, look at the evidence that he's full of shit.

Hey I gotta believe in something...!
I believe Eddie did go to Dave's house and worked on new music with him and I think they are still working on it and that his hand is probably much better now and that new music will be out next year if they continue to get along.
So far, so good.
I also believe that they have, besides working on new music, been rehearsing some great old songs we haven't heard in many years and that they will play them and the new stuff on tour next year.
I think that we will hear more about the new music by the time GH VH is released in late December and then NAMM and more through the Spring and then it will be VAN HALEN time once again, Spring/Summer 2010.
But I agree, Eddie should throw us more than hey Im working in the studio.
And I believe he will, soon.

I'd like to think that people would be pleasantly surprised with new music, but give the pent up demand and the level of expectation, and the Wolfie factor, I think it's going to be damn near impossible to satisfy most fans.
The new music could be good, very good or even excellent but unfortunately unless this thing is a freakin masterpiece, the masses will be hollering "we waited over a decade for this"..and I think that could be part of the delay...they just can't take another III.
I'll be happy to hear some new music tho.

They are damned if they do/don't but it is of their own doing. For almost two decades, VH was a pretty stable, consistent, and creative unit (save for one lead singer change). Since then, its been dysfunction junction. But, hey, all good things must passed. With VH, there is a feeling that the best is behind them.
