At the DLRarmy, it says "A little Ain't Enough" sold a million copies, and "YFLM" went gold. Is that really so? I read that "YFLM" sold only 50,000 copies. Thanks.

Yup. Those numbers are right. Even "DLR Band" sold about 150,000 copies.

Albiet, those numbers are nowhere near the 10-12 million EACH VH1 and 1984 have sold, Dave's done OK for someone 25 years into his career.

Those numbers have been debated. It hasn't been confirmed by RIAA. I could see ALAE maybe reaching platinum. I am not so sure about YFLM

I have heard that the DLR Band album reached between 50,000 - 80,000 sales. But actually, that isn't bad for an album released on an indie label. Plus Dave gets more money that route. So, Dave has not done bad for himself.

Someone clarify something for me: If Dave is doing well by selling 80-90-150,000 copies, how is Sammy NOT doing well by selling at least that many if not more copies of his latest albums?
That's what I've been reading here and other places.

No freaking way DLR Band sold 150,000 copies. I definitely want to see where that's published. Reports on that were in the 50,000 - 70,000 range, which seems way more reasonable for an indie release like it was.

Come on Brett, get your shit togther.

I heard it sold 150,000 copies.

Each member of the DLR army bought one. So it has to be at LEAST that.

The #'s may even be inflated by RIAA. Plus it was released on an independent label, which may not have released the true # of sales.

150,000 seems like a lot.

I've always heard about a million for ALAE, ~400,000 for YFLM, and 50,000-80,000 for DLR Band. Of those, the only number I doubt is the 400,000 of YFLM. I saw 5 copies wallowing in the Walmart bargain bin a few years ago, so I wonder if that 400,000 is the number shipped or the number that actually made it into CD players at least once.

Nobody has any numbers, but I'd love to see a sales and marketing analysis on his lastest video. How many were sold at shows this summer vs. how many were produced? Of the people that purchased the video, how many had seen the clips at DLR Band vs. those that bought on impulse? For those that had seen the clips and purchased, do they own all of DLR's previous work? (I betcha they do.) Same question for the ones that bought on impulse. And here's the kicker, for those that bought on impulse and didn't own all of Dave's previous work: have they purchase any of his catalog since, and if not do they intend to? That'd be an interesting bit of research.

Question

Where are you searching SoundScan? I thought only those in the industry had access to those figures and weren't available for the general public.

Does it count if you bought it for 2 bucks out of the cutout bin?
