VH was my first concert ever. I was 15, and the tour was 1984. When Roth left, There was something that wasn't the same. I've been pumped for this for a very long time. The backing vocals were incrible, and i hate to say, but they pulled it off pretty damn well for MA not being in the house. Wolfie can play, No bullshit. Ed's looking good, he's buff and cut like he's working out again. I loved how Dave was whipping the pipe around during Jump, AWSOME.
Here's what I got out of it. In my opinion, this show was an apology. An Apology to the fans for what we have had to deal with all these years. All the bullshit, Ed's crappy playing while he was drunk in 04, the gary Cherone debacle, ect. The list is too long to write about all of them. This was one of the better VH show's i have ever seen. Apology excepted! Now hoping for a new album may be in the furture?

Rocked My Heart in the Rockies
Well, this was the happiest of birthdays for this Van Halen Fan!
As the others before me have posted, they took the stage and rocked Pepsi Center. However for me, they took the stage and rocked my heart!
Its already been said; same set list, same Ice Cream Man story, same high fives and hugs.......but to see Roth and Eddie together again, well that just was anything but "same." It was magic. It was fun. It was just like the first time I saw this band in 1981.........and there are no words to describe it. If you are on the fence about going, take the plunge. You won't regret it.
TOOW, expect to be taken hostage and forced to enjoy the show should they come to our neck of the woods!!!!!
I missed Mike, I enjoyed Wolf. Being a parent I can understand how special it must be for Ed to share this with his son. Wolf held his own; he's just a kid, people need to remember that!
Thank you Van Halen, it was a birthday I won't soon forget.
btw, did anyone notice if Ed was smoking? I don't recall a cig stuck in the head stock like days of old?

Hard to tell from my seats, but it did look like he had one hanging from his mouth when he came out for his solo.

Well at least it wasn't like years past. Proud of him for that. What did ya'll think of the sound? I thought it was okay....but then I was so caught up in the moment I doubt I would be objective!!!!

I was in pretty poor seats, therefore it sucked I could tell they were playing tight and I'm sure if I had been in better seats, it would have been more awesome than it was!
Hey, I was there and that's what was important.

My seats were decent but some friends that went said they thought it sounded crummy. They aren't die hard fans and weren't even CVH fans to begin with so I doubt they would have enjoyed the concert anyway. And you are right, we were there and that is what's important!!!!! I hope they make a NM stop so I can see 'em again!!!!

I had decent seats - lower level about as close to the floor as you can get. The sound was exactly what I'd expect in a venue the size of the Pepsi Center - good but not great. This has to be your first rock show (or your first one sober) if you think it's going to sound clear and compressed like a CD. There are just too many places for the sound to wander.
The only "larger" venue that I know of with excellent sound is Red Rocks for obvious reasons. I have hope that VH will make a stop there in the next few summers.

Uh, nope. I have seen VH at the Pepsi Center before and I thought the sound was fine. I would never expect live music to sound like a CD, I am brighter than that. I just wondered what anyone else thought of the sound since there had been so much talk of it being "muddy" in the past. Thanks for your two cents.

Hey LE. I didn't mean you. I meant the friends you spoke to. It sounded like they may have had unrealistic expectations about sound. I hear the "muddy" sound complaint all the time when I go to shows with people who haven't attended a concert since the days of cassettes.
I really believe that their ears have adjusted to the compressed sound of a CD. They don't expect the same clarity at a live show of course, but when they hear frequencies at a live show that were compressed right out of the studio recording, it ends up sounding like mud.

I've been to many shows since cassettes! It sounded better than an 8 track!
When I say 'muddy' I mean that my seats were straight off Ed's side and 4 rows from the top row. I guess that's what I get for going to Ticketbastard at 1000AM the day they went on sale.
Anyway, the sound was soooooo compressed between the steepness of the seats around us and the roof 10 feet above our heads. It really sounded like crap. I could hear enough to be able to tell they were playing tight, it just sounded well, muddy.
