Walton was the man back in the day. Just the total player in terms of fundamentals.
From my era I would throw in Len Bias and Jordan as well.
Since I am biased, maybe Pearl Washington too.

Yeah, Laettner went on to have a stellar pro career too, didn't he. Give me Alcindor or Walton any day over that punk ass bitch.

In the immortal words of Regis Philbin...
KAREEM ABDUL-JABBAR!!!!! Or as he was known before his conversion to Islam, Lew Alcindor. Where as Christian Laettner won two titles and was a runner-up one year, Kareem/Lew won three titles and was the national player of the year every one of them years. That can not be beat as far as winning hardware at the collegiate level. Laettner schooling Shaq? Blind Melon, you need lay off the stuff you are smoking because that never happened unless it happened when Shaq was a pup at LSU and Christian was a upper classman at Duke, but anytime after that, it is safe to say that ole' Shaquille was schooling Christian Laettner.

Kareem never lost a game in the college (or maybe one), and won 3 titles. By far the most dominant player of his era and all-time in college.
Not a bad pro either.
I don't remember Laettner schooling Shaq ever, Shaq was pretty damn good at LSU. Nobody has ever schooled Shaq....yet. But it's coming as he gets older, lazier, and slower.

This may be so, but you are, by your own admission, BLIND!

Great college player, great college career, not athletic enough for NBA stardom. Skills out the ass, but not enough pure athletic ability.
Got a chance to hang with him for a week one summer working a hoop camp, was after his freshman year. He was a cool guy. Absolutley dominated our games, you could tell he was something special. I also got a chance a year or two later to hang with Billy McCaffery at that same camp before he transferred to Vandy, and he also said Laettner was a good guy. Just liked yanking people's chains by seeming arrogant. Typical Dukie.

I am not going to turn this into a Shaq thread, but you're crazy if you think Shaq isn't lazy, nor fat now. It's only gonna get worse, and his numbers are only gonna get worse. If he put up those stats as a Laker, there'd have been no 3-peat that's for sure. I know you Heat fans think he's gonna lead you to a title, and it's great to be excited by your team, but Shaq will never bring a title to Miami. He's not the same player anymore and hasn't been for a few years now.
My assessment of Shaq has nothing to do with Kobe, he has his own set of problems. They both fucked the Lakers up anyway, I blame both of them and Phil for what happened.
