Yeah you should get it. Even if you don't end up liking it, at least your collection is complete. I actually enjoyed a lot of the songs on there, but the production left a lot to be desired. If any of them need to be remastered, this would be the one.

Van Danniels 3 is a complete an utter piece of crap, do yourself a big favor and LEAVE VD3 in the K-Mart bargain bin where it rightfully belongs!!!

amen doc! don't buy into "owning every record to be a true fan" unless you need a beer coaster.

I have it, I wouldn't bother with it...sometimes I'll pop it in for some "Fire in the Hole" but that's it these days. The production was horrible, Cherone wasn't himself...well, we know the story already. http://www.vhforums.com/vhlforum/smilies/biggrin.gif

Just pass it on. Having every album doesn't make you a true fan. Enjoy what you've got and save your money for Van Halen 1 Revisited http://www.vhforums.com/vhlforum/smilies/biggrin.gif

moving to song/albums forum.

by the way, regardless of the fact that some people will NEVER accept VH3, there is some interesting stuff on there, nonetheless.

it's better than any of the crap out there right now anyway.

It's a great album, another side to the genius of Edward Van Halen. Every artist has the right (even the obligation) to take their art to new places. Edward bravely took the band to a new place, even if it was only for a short visit. I don't want my favorite band to always drive in a straight line, life isn't about straight lines, it's about the curves.http://www.vhforums.com/vhlforum/smilies/smile.gif

It's not a bad album, it's just not your typical VH record. I think that's why it's such a disappointment. It sounds like there's no tone whatsoever. Defininely not the 'brown sound.'

I definately would buy it! The production is terrible, but there are a couple really great songs on there. Dirty Water Dog is incredible! I really love that song. Without You, and One I Want are also great! I also like Joesphina. And Ballot Or The Bullet and Fire In The Hole are pretty good. I press the skip button for the rest of the songs though.http://www.vhforums.com/vhlforum/smilies/redface.gif

When I first heard it I had to have the title remind myself it was Van Halen.

When I first heard "Without You," I would have sworn Sammy was still in the band.

It didn't seem like a Van Halen album, that's for sure.

I bought it. I like it. You either like it or you dont. Great guitar playing, deep lyrics, some good songs, some bad songs, and bad production. All in all I still enjoty it http://www.vhforums.com/vhlforum/smilies/smile.gif

all in all VH3 in my opinio is better than balance. at least they were trying something differtn rather than following the trends. without you, fire in hole, dirty water dawg, and some others are pretty good.and since you can get it cheap at your local used store, i'd say go ahead & get it.

I like it. I'd just go ahead and get it if I were you, but just don't go into it with high expectations. It's definitely unlike any other VH album, just don't expect it to sound like a rehash of the Sammy or Dave era stuff.

If nothing else I'd get it for the amazing guitar work Eddie does in several of the songs.
