Since DD mentioned about creating a VH Links inspired Soundcloud playlist, well why not waterboard members here?

Uploaded a few songs I have done. New at Soundcloud so hopefully this works. When I write, I typically try to rip off an artist so don't look for anything original. I also try to write in a band format with verse, chorus, etc. Plus kind of hard to carry an instrumental when you play like CC Deville with broken fingers.

Good stuff, dude. You can almost hear Vince Neil singing on Motley Fool.

Lost and Found
https://soundcloud.com/glen-zipay/lost-and-foundYou're too hard on yourself, man! I thought those sounded great.
Really like the spiked midrange tone and rhythm patters on Econoline Van Halen. You nailed those muted picking figures too!

Nice thick tone on Motley Fool. I like the riffs as well.

Lost and Found had a great uplifting vibe to it, which isn't surprising, given your explanation of how/when/why it was written.

I thought your recordings sounded good, and your fingers seem to move just fine! Neat soloing on all the tracks. :thumb:

I really dug those tunes, Zig, especially the Econoline VH. While definitely in the VH mold, I hear shares of Rhoads in the outro. All tunes are very cool!

"Shades of Rhoads"... not "shares".

Thanks for the comments! Always been hesitant to share music but I guess at 48, coming out of my shell like an awkward girl in a teen movie

Well I hate my lead playing because I have always wanted to do so much more but don't have the technique or phrasing. Well compared to people here. I am easily intimidated. Mind you I can't play some CC Deville solos thus the comment...

Johnny Cash couldn't play anything more than some basic chords, and the Tennessee Three were auto mechanics who couldn't do much more than "and a one and a two" as his backing band...and they recorded some of the greatest music ever put on tape.

The older I get, the more this one central truth about music has become apparent, which probably becomes more apparent to ALL of us as we get older in our musical journeys. It ain't about how many notes and tricks you can squeeze into a four bar turnaround, but whether you have convinced the listener that your heart and soul is in that song and that it was earnest, that you have laid a little bit of yourself bare in playing it.

Every single person in these tracks threads can play circles around me, but I have gotten to the point in life that I think I have something to say, and my lack of playing skills be damned, I'm going to say it.

Trying to catch up on all the new tunes that have been posted in this forum in the past few days. Listened to yours on my drive to work this morning. Great stuff, Ziggy. A couple of things that stuck out to me…

Econline Van Halen - Made me want to drive with the windows down. Pre-chorus riff was especially great.

Motley Fool - The harmonies into the lead were a lot of fun.

311 - Bass lines were strong and lead over the outro was great

Lost and Found - Awesome use of layering, and dropping the drums at the end highlighted that well.

Again, great stuff!

Thanks for the positive comments everybody. To reply to DD, yes I know music is so much more than the shredding but like anything in life, when you love something you want to be the best you can be. I always wanted to do more with guitar but physically was not able to due to having Slavic peasant hands. Has always bothered me a bit but I am getting away from that thinking.

Love it Ziggy. When I first heard "311" my mind jumped to "316" and I thought "I don't get the connection", lol. A few seconds later I realized "Oh, 311! Totally different reference/band!". Good stuff brother!

Figured I would add another one that I want to rerecord some parts but too lazy to do. Rascal Flatts inspired song Thus the name.
