Well, I'm glad I'm going to the first show cause after listening to these guys talk on Stern I'll be surprised if it goes longer than the first few shows.....

Poor old Sammy - Dave completely played him on Stern this morning. Winding him up and then bringing it back to "we're in it together" when Sammy started getting annoyed. It was beautiful to behold....

SH: "We're gonna stick it up the Van Halen's asses"
DLR:"Eddie Van Heineken probably isn't too happy about this"
DLR:"Sammy throws a great party. But I am the party"

They both intimated that Eddie wasn't really sick - Sammy said he would have buried the hatchet and gone down to see Eddie if he was. Dave kind of suggested he was making it up.

Dave "won" the toss and will close in Cleveland....again smile.gif They all goofed on Sammy for opening with Shaka Doobie when Dave was opening with Hot For Teacher.

my favorite line...

In all the talk between Sammy and Dave about Ed being pissy, Howard suggested that a good way to piss off Eddie would be for Dave to bang Val on stage between sets. to which Dave responded,

"No, what is was is that we were gonna make a porno and call it Inapropriatly Touched By an Angel."

David Lee Roth (in studio) And Sammy Hagar (on phone) Talk Touring. 5/7/02. 8:45am
Former Van Halen frontmen, David Lee Roth and Sammy Hagar, are going to tour together this year so Howard wanted to talk to them. David Lee Roth came in the studio and Sammy Hagar called in to talk about this tour. Both of them have badmouthed each other on Howard's show in the past so Howard was playing clips all morning.
Howard said Dave was happy as he always is when he comes in. Sam was on the phone from California so he was 3 hours behind on time so he was a bit sleepy. Dave was wired as he usually is and he wouldn't stop talking. The two of them were getting along pretty well when the interview started. It didn't take long before Dave started making little digs at Sammy but Sammy just sat back and took it.

Dave told Howard that this tour is kind of an ''F-You'' to the guys in Van Halen just to prove that they both still have careers even though they were tossed out of the band. Sammy said that he's doing this to prove that he's just as good or better than Dave.

Dave said that he's going to stick to Van Halen songs in his act but Sam said he's going to play some Van Halen stuff but most of his show will be his solo stuff.

This tour was Dave's idea and he had his assistant contact Sam's manager. They later met in a meeting and got along just fine when they decided to forget about everything from the past. The agreed to do the tour and will even take the stage together if the fans want that. Sam said that he will even play guitar during a song for Dave if he wants.

Howard reminded both Dave and Sam about what they've said about each other in the past when he replayed some old interviews. Sam said he regretted calling Dave a goofball when Howard asked him if he'd ever hook up with Dave to tour way back in 1997.

Sam and Dave are going to flip flop opening and closing the show during this tour. Howard was set to do the first coin toss to find out who will open the first show. Both of them think that they should close these shows so they had to agree to flip flop them. While Howard was talking to them about all of this they were both making little digs at each other. Dave made a lot of jokes about Sam and Sam said he's going to do his best to blow Dave off the stage at these shows. Of course Dave thinks he's better than Sammy so he thinks he's going to blow Sam off the stage. They both agree that these will be great shows.

Artie Lange spoke up and said that he's a huge Van Halen fan. He said if he goes to one of these shows and Dave opens up with a bunch of Van Halen songs, he's probably just going to leave when he's done. Howard tried to convince Sammy that he's going to need to play more Van Halen songs. Sam said he opens up with ''Shockadoobie'' while Dave opens up with ''Hot for Teacher.'' The guys all think that Sam needs to open up with something other than ''Shockadoobie.'' Someone even suggested that they both perform the same songs and have a competition. That's not going to happen though.

Howard moved on to do the big coin toss to decide who will open or close the first show on the tour. Sam took heads while Dave got tails. Howard took the coin and flipped it and got tails. Dave won the toss and said he's going to headline the first night. Sam said no one is ''headlining'' the show. One band opens and one closes the show. Dave gets to close that first show. After that they'll start flip-flopping back and forth. The first show of 'The Song for Song Tour' takes place in Cleveland, Ohio on May 29th.

The way the guys were going at each other makes it sound like this tour may not last long. Howard and Robin want to see them if they make it to New York though... if they last that long working together.

Howard took a few phone calls for the guys after Sammy threatened to get off the phone. Sam thought for sure that Howard was going to have someone on the phone bashing him. The first caller was a Sammy fan though. A few callers asked some questions and didn't get too nasty when they called in. Howard wrapped up his call with Sam after the fans called in. He spent a few more minutes with Dave and then wrapped it up with him too. Dave was still making digs at Sam so it's sounding more and more like they're not going to be able to get along during this tour.

For more information on Dave and Sam you can visit their respective web sites... DavidLeeRoth.com for Dave and RedRocker.com for Sammy.

My take? I don't think they will last to make the East Coast leg of the tour after the barbs that I heard this morning. Dave was really letting poor Sammy have it after he was waken from his sleep in California at 5:30AM. I am glad the music journalist who called in let Dave have it.

THE VAN HALEN BROTHERS: The whole reason they want this tour to last is to shove it at these guys. Calling Eddie "Eddie Van Heineken" and making references to "doing" Valerie was in poor taste. I wish someone told it like it is. Sammy never sold more albums in his entire career since he was in Van Halen and Dave never sold the same after he quit. Van Halen wrote ALL the music from both eras and there was NEVER a time that Dave outsold a VH record or Sammy outsold a VH record.

GARY CHERONE - I am glad Dave found humor in ripping poor Gary Cherone with the "Vagina Monologue" barbs. Dave was not laughing when Gary Cherone in Van Halen outsold BOTH he and Sammy by hundreds of thousands of records in 1998. In fact, I do not think I would be wrong in saying that Extreme outsold both their last solo efforts.

EDDIE'S CANCER - This was not nonsense. It was confirmed by the hospital, by Eddie and by Val numerous times. Maybe Eddie did not want to be strongarmed by WB to bring both these guys back in the band. At least Sammy made an attempt at reconciliation by requesting an apology from the VH brothers for how they treated him. (Which he deserves.)

THE TOUR - It is going to be the same thing that we as VH fans have known a long time. Dave will have the better stage performance and Sammy will have the better pipes and musical ability. The fans will win more than either of these two guys.

THE QUIPS - Sammy said he would jam with Dave at the end but Dave said he would not cover a Sammy song. Why not? He has made two albums worth of almost entirely complete covers. (Diver Down and Crazy From the Heat.)

HEAD TO HEAD - Dave said Sammy would beat him in the fight because he weighs forty pounds more than him. Dave would get his ass kicked by Sammy regardless of the weight joke.

BASEBALL AND FOOTBALL - Dave kept mentioning how you never hear Sammy era songs at ball parks or football games. News to Dave. I have gone to both stadiums, especially the New York ones he made reference to, and can tell him that "Right Now" and "Dreams" have been played at Yankee Stadium and Shea more than "Unchained" or "Running with the Devil" ever have. What was his point?

BOTTOM LINE - Dave gets too over the top. He has a tenedency to run his mouth and get in trouble for it. It has been the story of his career. Sammy was dignified, respectful but made no doubts that the show is competitive. Dave took shots everywhere he could and Sammy laughed them off.

WHO WINS? =VH=! - Definitely! While these guys go at it, all they do is expose Van Halen music to a younger audience or deprived fans, help increase sales of the Van Halen catalog, which Ed, Mike and Al will cash in on without leaving "Howdy Doody Mountain", and set up a situation, hopefully, that proves Dave and Sammy can get along enough to be together on stage at the RNR Hall of Fame. Eddie wins in the end!

While I was listening, there were a few times that Sammy seemed annoyed, but it sounded to me like he was annoyed over the fact that he couldn't answer questions. They both seemed to having fun and talking shit the way athletes do during a game.

This tour is going to be great for no other reason than to see Van Halen and (as Sammy calls his era himself) Van Hagar.

I got it recently from a page of "Bushisms" but I definitely remember seeing and hearing him saying it on TV last summer. My photographic memory pictures him in jeans and a denim shirt when he said it, so he was probably at the ranch in Texas. Given the attitude of Bush, Fleischer, Asscrotch, and other Republicans immediately after September 11, it looks like the quote was some sort of accidental prophecy. Or at least I hope it was accidental.

while it is true that dave and sammy have sold more albums with Ed than without him... the same point holds true for Ed, capisce?

By VH with Roth or Hagar standards, III was a total COW FLOP. On III, Ed tried to "stick it in Dave and Sammy's ass" by showing them he could take a mediocre singer and make a top-selling album. obviously, it didn't work.

in the end, the combination of ed and dave or ed and sam is more powerful than any of the three acting separately. that, my friend, is the whole truth.

Now, on to other things....I think that the whole Ed-cancer thing got blown WAY out of proportion. That being said, I would probably blow it out of proportion if I had cancer. Regardless of where or when he was treated, I would say it is a safe bet that he did get treatment somewhere.

Once again, FORD, you are wrong about this quote, which you use as part of your signature. This is what happens when you get all your information from left-wing Web sites run by conspiracy theorists with an irrational hatred of President George W. Bush.

First of all, the quote was not an “accident” but a joke. I know of two occasions that Bush uttered it to reporters –- 1) on December 18, 2000, in Washington, D.C., shortly after the 2000 election fiasco ended when Bush and congressional leaders from both parties held a joint press conference, and 2) on July 26, 2001, in the Oval Office when Bush and Virginia Gubernatorial Candidate Mark Earley addressed reporters. Both times Bush said it jokingly when he was asked about the difficulties of working with Congress. I’ve seen the footage of Bush making this “dictatorship” statement both of these times and those in the room -- Republican congressional leaders, Democrat congressional leaders, reporters, etc. – laughed because it was a joke. They saw no nefarious intent behind the remarks like you do. See, you may not have a sense of humor, FORD, but they do.

Moreover, Bush was in D.C., not at his Texas ranch, and he was wearing a suit at both of these press conferences so there is no way he could have seen Bush "in jeans and a denim shirt when he said it." Apparently your "photographic memory," for lack of a better term, SUCKS, since it's the same "photographic memory" that seems to remember all these make-believe sold-out Van Halen stadium tours with DLR, among many other VH and political fallacies you espouse. ;)

Here are a couple of news stories containing references to Bush’s “dictatorship” statement on December 19, 2000, and a White House press release (along with streaming audio and video) containing a reference to Bush’s “dictatorship” statement on July 26, 2001:

http://www.coxnews.com/2000/news/cox/121900_hill.html

http://www.nctimes.com/news/121900/t.html

http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2001/07/20010726-3.html

But, FORD, why would you let the truth get in the way of something you want to be true, right? After all, you have no history of doing that on VH/DLR Message Boards, do you?

Sorry for the interruption, everyone. Now back to the regular DLR vs. Sammy programming... smile.gif

I am not wrong about the quote. He said it, didn't he? And I get my information from a variety of sources. Some of them are "left wing conspiracy theorists", some of them are "right wing conspiracy theorists". For an occasional laugh, I watch the blatant GOP propaganda on FOX News. I haven't listened to hate radio in a while, but that's because it turns my stomach to think that people actually believe those delusional fucks.

First of all, the quote was not an accident but a joke.

When the hell did I say it was not a joke? I wasn't implying that Junior was giving hints of a future fascist state that he would force upon the world 2 months later. For one thing, whoever is behind 9-11, I doubt if Bush Jr himself had much participation. He's far too stupid for that.

I know of two occasions that Bush uttered it to reporters 1) on December 18, 2000, in Washington, D.C., shortly after the 2000 election {coup d'etat} ended when Bush and congressional leaders from both parties held a joint press conference, and 2) on July 26, 2001, in the Oval Office when Bush and Virginia Gubernatorial Candidate Mark Earley addressed reporters. Both times Bush said it jokingly when he was asked about the difficulties of working with Congress. Nah, it doesn't suck, it just made a little mistake. My photographic memory works great, I just need to change the developer once in a while. It must have been some other dumb ass comment he made at the ranch... Oh well, I got his clothes wrong. Sorry. I don't see where that's a big deal.

But, FORD, why would you let the truth get in the way of something you want to be true, right? After all, you have no history of doing that on VH/DLR Message Boards, do you?

Ah, here we get into the right wing delusion that "anyone who voted for Bill Clinton must be a liar like he is". Well, that simply is not the case. I am not a liar, nor have I ever been one. So, yes if I post something, it is because to my knowledge it is true.. If you want to say I "lied" about Bush Jr's wardrobe, that would be the equivalent of splitting baby hairs with a chainsaw. There was no intention there, apart from answering a question from "Mr Blaque" as to whether the Bush Jr quote was authentic or not.

As you have said yourself, it was. Thanks for the confirmation. :D

DLR confirmed it, Sammy confirmed it, doctors confirmed it and VH confirmed it. Shite! Un-fucking-believeable!

This board and a lot of members here consistently subscribe to a conspiracy theory about VH. What has happened with VH is NOT abnormal. There are tons of bands that this shit happens to. VH was a great rock band that could not get along with a lead singer. They have tried getting back together on several occassions and have not gotten over the hump. It's obvious to me that VH needs DLR/Sammy and they need VH. It just isn't working out. Who knows, maybe one day it will and if it does, I don't think any fans are going anywhere. Don't put words in my mouth, Captain Sheep.

What I believe is that Eddie had cancer, it was treated, it was cured/gone into remission/whatever the appropriate medical terminology is.

I also believe that Eddie has been healthier for some time than he he has allowed the public to believe.

I also believe that sheep like yourself, most especially Brad $tark$ and the VHML/Pasture Dump cult, have used the obvious and understandable compassion that Van Halen fans would have towards Eddie's health, to your advantage every time an issue rises which does not reflect positively on the Lying Dutchmen. When I posted in another thread today that the first positive outcome of Eddie being healthy was no more sheep posting of "poor sick Eddie threads", I was not being insensitive towards Eddie or his family. I was being deliberately insensitive towards the sheep exploitation of Eddie and his family, so well employed by the $tark$ cult. The fact that the sheep no longer have that option is a VERY good thing :D

Ford, you seem to be a Van Halen fanatic (in a sort of weird, twisted way), but you also seem to hate Van Halen. You have probably obsessed over the possible reunion with DLR and VH since 1985, but hate VH. This does not make sense. What I think is this: you realize that without VH, DLR is nothing. Hint: what set list is DLR doing on the Sam and Dave tour? You also suggest that EVH was lying about his illness, which is low even in your standards. Are you really that insensitive? But here is my prediction: if DLR reunties with VH, you will be there pretending to be the #1 fan, conveinently forgetting everything you have said over the last few years. So now that EVH is healthy and excited about making music again, I don't think anyone will miss you if you are absent from any discussion or shows. Stick to your past behavior and boycott the VH brothers since you hate them so much. After all, they have certainly made YOU suffer all of these years...You disgust me.

I do not, nor have I ever, hated Van Halen.

You have probably obsessed over the possible reunion with DLR and VH since 1985, but hate VH. This does not make sense. What I think is this: you realize that without VH, DLR is nothing.

Do YOU realize that there is no Van HALEN without Dave? There was Van Hagar, which made some good music and some godawful cheese. And there was Van Danniels III which was a pile of shit set to badly recorded music. But they were not Van Halen.

DLR has made 5 solo studio albums that were also not Van HALEN. But at least they weren't cheese and they weren't shit. And what may have been true in 1985 is NOT true now.

Right Now, without David Lee Roth, Van Halen IS NOTHING.

Hint: what set list is DLR doing on the Sam and Dave tour?

Whatever the fuck he feels like playing. So is Sammy, I would guess.

You also suggest that EVH was lying about his illness, which is low even in your standards. Are you really that insensitive?

I did not say any such thing. Nice try.

But here is my prediction: if DLR reunties with VH, you will be there pretending to be the #1 fan, conveinently forgetting everything you have said over the last few years.

I'd be willing to bet that I was a Van HALEN fan before you were born, sheep.

So now that EVH is healthy and excited about making music again, I don't think anyone will miss you if you are absent from any discussion or shows. Stick to your past behavior and boycott the VH brothers since you hate them so much. After all, they have certainly made YOU suffer all of these years...You disgust me.

And you amuse me, as do all the $tark$ cultists who continuously lie about me. I do not HATE anyone, but you brainless fuckwads are enough to make me reconsider that position. You willfully ignore the mess your false messiah Edward Lodewijik Van Halen has made out of "Van Halen" for the past 6 years, while talking shit about David Lee Roth, Sammy Hagar, and the fans who were actually THERE and know what Van HALEN was all about.

Fuck off, you idiot coward.

I listened to the interview and it all seemed to be just light-hearted jabs. Nothing vicious. Competitive, yes. Vicious, no. Even Sammy's comments on shoving it up the Van Halen bros. asses. If you listen in the background under all of the hoots and hollering, Sammy finishes his comment by adding that Eddie and Al should get off their asses and be there touring with them. Dave referring to Eddie as "Eddie Van Heineken", it was a funny light-hearted jab. Total David Lee Roth. Eddie would probably laugh at that himself. The comments about Val - Tastless yet funny. Just the humor I expect out of Dave. This is going to be one hell of a tour. I can't wait.

As you have said yourself, it was. Thanks for the confirmation.“Here we get into the right wing delusion that ‘anyone who voted for Bill Clinton must be a liar like he is’”? Ah, no. As for lying about Bush’s wardrobe, you’re the one who said you had a “photographic memory,” not me. Plus, your intent is always to paint Bush in the poorest light. I don’t agree with everything he does either and he deserves criticism for certain things (ex. tariffs on imported steel and Canadian lumber, subsidies for American farmers, signing the campaign finance reform bill, etc.), but you’ve made a living online bashing a guy with a soaring approval rating following a national tragedy that resulted in 90% of the U.S. uniting together. You just happen to be one of the 10% who aren’t “happy” unless you’re pissed at everything, especially the U.S., its governmental leaders and the Van Halen brothers. Christ, anyone who spends so much time on VH message boards while viciously slandering and insulting 5 of the 6 people who have performed with the band over the past 28 years, creating some of the greatest music in rock history, is obviously someone who can’t be happy. Eddie, Alex, Michael, Sammy and Gary are just former members of a band, not a group of murderers that have supported Adolf Hitler, Joseph Stalin, Slobodan Milosevic, Idi Amin, Saddam Hussein and Osama bin Laden.

I haven't twisted anything.

We know you copied and pasted the quote verbatim from some left-wing extremist Web site spouting anti-Bush propaganda.

It's easier than typing the whole thing in. You have acknowledged that the quote is legitimate, so what difference does it make WHERE I copied it from? I prefer sites that spout "anti Bush propaganda" (a.k.a. the truth that corporate media won't touch), where as you prefer sites who consider him the new Messiah. Not much of a revelation there.

After all, you’re the one who posted in response to MrBlaque, “I got it recently from a page of ‘Bushisms’” which is a signature title of verbatim pages on all Bush-Hater sites. Anyone can do a search in Yahoo or Google to see this.

If I had added the quote to my signature the last week of July 2001, I could have just as easily copied it from CNN.com, or the FOX Propaganda channel's website. So that argument is irrelevant.

So answer me one question: Did you think it was a joke?

He may have meant it as such at the time. But given the circumstances of the 2000 non-election, it seems ironic for him to be joking about dictatorships.

Have you ever referred to this quote to prove your fanatical and foolish point that Bush/Cheney/Ashcroft are trying to squash our constitutional rights and perhaps create a fascist state? I know the answer to these questions but let’s see if you have one ounce of honesty in you.

There is nothing "fanatical and foolish" about the recognition that the so-called "Bush Administration" in several ways, has undermined the Constitution of the United States of America since September 11, 2001. The "President's" press secretary said "watch what you say". Asscrotch said "questioning me or the administration is the same as giving aid and comfort to the enemy". Junior himself said, to every nation in the world "Either you support MY definition of terrorism, or you're supporting terrorists yourselves." These are but a few examples.

You continually post a bunch of crap about convoluted conspiracy theories and nefarious plots by Bush/Cheney -- including the Bush Administration/CIA being behind 9-11 and trying to create a fascist state in the U.S. – but you are now trying to backpedal. Why else would you include this quote in your signature?

I never said JUNIOR was behind 9-11. The CIA, quite possibly. Daddy Bush? well, he's responsible, in part, any way you look at it. For even if Osama Bin Laden, a sick man on kidney dialysis, planned the whole thing on his own, he did so with the terrorist training that was provided to him by George Bush Sr and the CIA.

Undoubtedly, to intentionally depict Bush in a negative way (much like you do to Eddie, Alex, Mike, Sammy and Gary).

I'm sure Junior's singing is worse than Cherone's and he's done more cocaine than Eddie & Alex combined. But other than that, I fail to see a correlation.

You can try to take your anger-filled mind and create some lame excuse, but the fact is you look for EVERY opportunity to browbeat and demean those that you don’t agree with

If that means I have an "anger filled mind", then it would also say the same about you. Am I angry that the "President" currently occupuying the White House is NOT the one chosen by the majority of American people? You're damn right I am, and I make no apologies for it. Am I angry that the very same criminals who pulled off that coup may very well have murdered 3000 Americans in order to win public approval for a bloodbath in the Middle East with control of OIL being the true goal. Fucking right I'm pissed about that. And if you aren't, you should be. But that hardly constitutes an "anger filled" mind.

whether it’s Republicans, or VH fans that think DLR is washed up, or Webmasters that ban you from their message boards, or members of the VH online community (like myself) that think you’re a big blowhard that makes a concerted effort to be the center of attention online because you receive no attention offline.

Sounds like you're comparing me to your idol, Mush Limpdick. Well, you're wrong. I make no "concerted effort" to do anything, except to tell it like it is.

Your use of this Bush quote is to undoubtedly imply that it was uttered in seriousness, especially since you call the 2000 election a coup d’etat.

No, it's more the twisted irony that in the last 7 months, not only the Bush Jr "administration", but right wing blowhards like yourself have made that dictatorship a reality by reacting with violence, verbal or otherwise, to the slightest thought which opposes Bush Jr's agenda, as if we are somehow "Un American" for not walking lock (goose)step with the Right Wing. It's standard Lee Atwater attack politics. Atwater's hatred may have consumed his mind (literally) and killed him, but even though he repented of his sickness shortly before his death, his party still uses his tactics. (as do other groups like the $tark$/VHML sheep cult, as I pointed out in other threads.)

For you to say anything different not only makes you a liar but a spineless bastard who lacks courage in his convictions, too.

If that were true, I wouldn't endure the migraine headaches I get from reading the streams of hatred which greet me on these boards on certain days. Nor would I bother fighting against the attack politics of someone like yourself.

“Whoever is behind 9-11”? Did I miss a meeting? I think it’s been well-established that al Qaeda was behind 9-11.

And the leader of Al Qaeda, Osama Bin Laden has an association with a certain American family which dates back to the 70's. And that family has an association with the CIA which dates back to the 50's. That's not a "conspiracy", these are known facts. Oh, and let's not forget that the "patriarch" of that family is still doing business with the Bin Ladens.

Oh wait, not on FORD’s “Howdy Doody Mountain” in Olympia, right? BTW, your continual need to tell everyone how stupid our President is patently pathetic and the lowest form of debate. Posting it continually won’t make it true, though it will make others think the same of you.

Junior confirms his own stupidity every time he opens his mouth. I don't need to help him at all there.

I guess it’s easy to direct derision and disdain at others who have actually accomplished things in life – like earning an MBA from Harvard, getting married, having kids and a family,

I believe the subject of how the rich and powerful alumni of these schools buy degrees for their less than scholarly offspring has been well covered on this board. As far as getting married and having a family, a lot of stupid people have done that too, so I fail to see how that would imply "intelligence" on the part of Bush Jr. And his coke use and drinking were obviously great examples for his daughters, as their own recent history proves.

Maybe it's because I can't take George Bush Jr seriously enough to track what the idiot wears, or where he is at every given moment. But that's what he has the Secret Service for.

“Here we get into the right wing delusion that ‘anyone who voted for Bill Clinton must be a liar like he is’”? Ah, no. I think you’re a liar because you continually lie, both intentionally and unintentionally.

Or neither.

Plus, I didn’t know if you voted for Clinton, though it’s far from a surprise. Don’t try to put words in my mouth.

Please.... who else would I have voted for in the 92 election? Bush Sr? The little guy with the big ears and pie charts? And in 1996? Bob "Viagra" Dole??

You posted something factually incorrect, which you do on many occasions, and I exposed it once again.

Geez, if Junior's wardrobe is really that important to you, I'll start writing a fucking log of what he wears every day. Would that make you feel better?

I never said anything about Clinton. Unlike you, I don’t waste my life bitching about how the President is stupid, is ruining my life, is the reason I can’t find a woman or get a good-paying job and is covertly preventing DLR from reuniting with VH. Yes, this is a little hyperbole on my part but you get the point.

You may not have mentioned Clinton in this thread But you have certainly made all the standard VRWC comments about him before.

Plus, your intent is always to paint Bush in the poorest light. I don’t agree with everything he does either and he deserves criticism for certain things (ex. tariffs on imported steel and Canadian lumber, subsidies for American farmers, signing the campaign finance reform bill, etc.),

Actually, those might be the few things he's done right. Maybe I'll give him the Canadian lumber thing, if it will save the little bit of old growth forest we have left here. But I doubt the steelworkers union will be too happy with him. And if you're opposed to subsidies for farmers, what about corporate welfare?? Was it right, for example, for Ronald Reagan to use our money to bail out Chrysler and allow them to continue making shitty cars?

but you’ve made a living online bashing a guy with a soaring approval rating following a national tragedy that resulted in 90% of the U.S. uniting together.

The approval ratings thing has been overblown. Just because the majority of Americans including myself supported the pursuit of Al Qaeda terrorists in Afghanistan, does NOT constitute a 90% endorsement of the Bush Jr agenda.

No, that would be the Bush family. They have supported Hitler, Hussein, and Bin Laden. And Bush Sr might as well have supported Milosevic's "ethnic cleansing" policies by criticizing President Clinton and/or the UN sending in troops to The Region Formerly Known As Yugoslavia to stop the bloodbath. A bit hypocritical, considering his own war to protect Zapata Oil's base of operations in Bahrain.

If you're getting migrain headaches from reading the hatred spewed at you, you might want to consider logging off the boards for a while, back away from the computer, AND GET YOUR ASS OUTSIDE.

How anyone could revolve so much of their life around these boards to make their opinion known is beyond me. It's only a rock band.

Dave couldn't sing Dreams because he doesn't have the range or the control to do it. Dreams is a bitch to sing.

Yeah, sure, if he were some fashionable G O P acolyte, a Bug could imagine hisself gittin' all butt-hurt over FORD's diatribes (instead of being immensely amused at seeing all these left-wing premises administered with such right-wing fervor and belligerence).

But even if I were a card-carrying Gingrich conservative, I'd have to remember one thing about this thread -

Wasn't FORD who got this thread going in full attack boogie.

graemlins/yell.gif WAS IT?

I don't give a madass FUCK if the man's spewing the Satanic verses. Baiting him into a defensive posture, then harping on him for fending off the blows is bullshit. And it's a bitch-ass tactic that's at least twice as old as many make out FORD's own dialogue to be.

Some o' y'all should save your puling little promenades of righteous indignation for the skirmishes he actually starts.

Well, maybe I'd have less of a problem with it if that were the topic of discussion that started this thread. Or if FORD were the one who steered it there.

But the notion that FORD is doing ALL the instigating is not supported by the pattern we've seen here.

Not to mention elsewhere. Repeatedly.

Thoughts on Dave and Sam on Stern by me. I was left with the wish that all these guys could just keep their infighting 'in'. ;) Ideally it would be nice for everybody to have mutual respect, but barring that, how about just keeping nice publicly? I recently saw the Judas Priest Classic Albums show dedicated to British Steel. It's nice to see Rob praising the Priest boys and vice versa. To me, it ends up demeaning them all when they look like the WWF of rock bands. Problem is, everybody is a little wrong, and everybody probably thinks they're totally right. Not a good start to mending fences.

It's not important that the fans understand??

You just wanted to talk about Fjrd - you yourself are desperate for the same attention fjrd is desperate for. Accusing us all of being baseless and without topic when all you had to add was the vhforums version of "ours is not to know the reasons why"??! Yeah right.

Yes, hypocritical-you yourself have once again tried to bring a topic back to Fjrd.

Forgive me if I don't engage in bashing my head against the wall talking rationally about the subject of Van HELEN REDDY with the gentleman, as he's readily proven that to be a pointless exercise in name calling and repetitive jingoism.

Were he to admit the occasional fault or apologize for his crap he would be easier to talk to.

If he were to do more than just run from a discussion when undeniably proven to be wrong it may be worth considering your complaint about how your pal Fjrd has been treated.

But you need to face it, when you get right down to brass tacks the guy gets what he wants here. It's an elementary equation and now you are helping to add to the mess by coming into the discussion really wanting to talk about Fjrd yourself. Why even address fjrd?

Why not JUST ADDRESS THE TOPIC AND IGNORE FJRD? Lead by example rather than by scent.

Pardon me if I save my concern.

I hope this was the attention you wanted.

Um, Okeydokey, BK. All that in the bold was YOU talkin' 'bout that topic you want to avoid, or some wild conjecture about me as it relates to, well, that topic you want to avoid. Far as "leading by example" is concerned. I don't even have to use the word.

Alrighty, then. But for a reminder that it's plain what happened in this thread to anyone who cares to review the first page, I'll drop it. Well, one more thing - If I'd seen the same bullshit happening to you, I would have made the same case.

I hope this was the attention you wanted.Mighty God-damned clairvoyant tonight, aren't we? NOW I remember why you and I have had such fun in the past. :D

Regarding the TOPICAL component of my post, well gee, maybe I just wasn't clear enough. Because in all the sackcloth and ashes about the abuse that Awful Cryptkeeper is heaping on poor ol' Red, it seems to be getting lost that Sammy's laughing, dealin' with it like a world-class sport, and sliding in a few choice zingers of his own.

Still, a certain contingent of fans appears to just refuse to see the levity in it all.

Okay, no big deal. If these fans can't countenance that it's all a bunch of shit-talking, they'll still have a show to go to. As long as Sam and Dave are on the same page with all the jabs. Which I'm fairly convinced they are.

Care to try and jam that "ours is not to reason why" ( graemlins/wtf.gif ) peg in there again?
