Hmmm, we discussed this before and while we didn't decide for sure, something tells me it was guitar tech Rudy Leiren that did it in the Dave era. I don't think it was the same person in the Gary era though. The guy in the Gary era did a very unusual (and boring) vocal inflection on "MIGHTY" which IMO ruined the intro.

Alright guys, maybe I'm wrong, but most of the time I think it was ACTUALLY Dave doing it, or Gary doing it. Really pay close attention to some of those shows. You can tell that most of the time the guy doing it during the Dave era, sounds just like Dave and the guy doing it during the Gary era, sounds just like Gary. Now every now and then some one else may have introduced them, but I think for the most part it was themselves doing it.

I have a bootleg from the club era where it's Dave that does the intro of the band, but anytime after they had a record out, I'd say with almost 100% certainty that that wasn't Dave doing the intro. And I've only heard three or four Gary boots, but again I'd say that that isn't Gary doing the intro of the band.

It just sounds way too much like Dave or Gary for it not too be them. I'd still bet that most of the time it was them. This is actually a pretty good question and would be kind of cool to know who's introducing them, is there anyone around here who knows for sure who it was?? Where's Brett?? http://208.50.7.95/vhlforum/smilies/smile.gif

Well gotta agree with Glenn here, during the DLR era shows, Rudy Leiren was the announcer, I'm 99.9% sure. It was Dave during the club days, but not when they were signed. I'm not sure who the dude that did the VH3 shows was though.

Okay, I emailed Bradman to get his answer and this is what he sent back.

Hey Brad, who did the live intro of the band during the DLR era? And who
was it during the III tour? Thanks. Glenn

I assume that Rudy is Rudy Leiren, which is what we thought. I'm not sure who Rob is, but someone who follows AVH closer than me probably knows.http://208.50.7.95/vhlforum/smilies/smile.gif

I belive that the Rob refers to Rob Kerns, Alex's drum tech. I don't know how long Rob has been the tech, but before that he had a guy named Greg Emerson. What a job that must have been!
