Wouldn't it be cool if vhlinks could have a guitar contest and the winner would be posted on the sites main page or there could be prizes awarded too. Here would be the rules....It would cost a 3.00 to enter. You have to play one van halen song guitar only and a song of your own. You will record it on a cassett tape. The tape should be no longer than 10 minutes since you are doing only two songs. It should be just guitar no drums etc. And of course I will win.HAHAHAHAHHAHA. Just kidding. But it would be fun. Post some comments and tell me what you think......eruption is allowed!!!!

EVH, have you uploaded anything to the freedrive site yet?
Just curious, I'd like to hear you.

In my humble opinion, Eddie's m.o. throughtout his whole career has been originality, so why do a VH cover? Eddie ALREADY did those, and I don't think anyone's gonna do 'em any better. Why not just original music? Imitation is not the same as inspiration.

Hell if I could get Peavey or Brad or someone to give me a Wolfie or an EBMM, or even a striped Kramer to use for a contest, I'm keeping it for myself! LOL! http://208.50.7.95/vhlforum/smilies/smile.gif

Ok sorry guys bad idea. I guess I will try to do something similar on my website. Of course there would be no prizes and it wouldn't cost any thing. I need to get a midi plug thing to plug into my amp and then plug that into my computer. Do you have any opinions on what I should buy ....do I need to buy specific software like guitar studio?

Rick, I thought you guys had passed on that. I guess someone could start a rhythm and upload it. Then the rest of us could add lead or bass, etc.. and reupload it. Might be fun.
EVH, I think you need a software program, but I think something like Musicmatch jukebox might work too. I noticed you've been contacted by homeunit. He knows about this stuff, and would be the best one to get advice from.
By the way, I've been having a lot of problems playing videos lately on my window's video player, so I downloaded the new version of apple quicktime player 4. It's free, and plays videos really well.

Hey I'd love to play on it! Maybe we could each just grab a few bars and solo over it. If someone could lay down maybe a nice midi drum and bass track, then add some rhythm guitar over it, it could work. Homeunit is the man with that. http://208.50.7.95/vhlforum/smilies/smile.gif

My semester break starts tomorrow, but my other half will be writing papers, so I'll have to work at night lol!

Let me see what I can come up with, but I need to think this through a bit, (ie, where am I going to get/genrate drums)

I'll keep ya posted and if anyone else want to help, let me know!

He he! See I knew we could convince him to look into it. http://208.50.7.95/vhlforum/smilies/smile.gif Just some simple stupid three chord bluesy/rock/distorted jam would be cool IMO.

Brett's got the idea, nothing extremely fancy is needed homeunit. Just make it a bluesy thing in E or A and everyone should be fine. http://208.50.7.95/vhlforum/smilies/biggrin.gif
