I do hope the total arsewipes who were gobbing off about money are long gone.
I havent been here recently, but as all longtimers here know, it is one of the very few places on the net that is run by a decent, honest fella who was begged.... yes... begged.. by the membership to keep going when the site was hacked a few years ago and whose membership chose to donate to help keep it open. He didnt have to. At the time it was probably more trouble than it was worth to him... and still is to be fair.
Never once, not once, have the vast majority of the members here questioned Bretts honesty regarding this, nor would they dream of doing, simply because he runs a service, a bloody good service for the people who come here.
My own opinion of this is, if people dont like how this site is run or the way it is financed, (and it has to be financed when you have a young family to take care of), then fuck 'em... get rid of them. Let them spread their bile over the rest of the net.
Brett... there has never once been a time when I have ever doubted your honesty. Never! You do what needs to be done and what you feel is right. It's first and foremost your site, your baby and screw them who dont like it!!

What I am curious about is this... Do you (VanHalenRocks & other haters) give all the internet sites you visit this much crap for having ads on their site? This thread was created to help trouble shoot issues related to advertising. How many websites you regularly visit do that?
So yes, I do agree... if you dont like it get the F out. This is why:
Brett explained why he has advertising on his site.
Brett is trying to do everything to make this a smooth transaction and eliminate issues.
Brett removed a lot of the higher paying advertising on this site because of user complants.
Brett does all of this to provide you with a FREE, social networking service.
Bottomline is running a site cost money. Everyone has priorities. Brett made the best decision to keep this site going, if you disagree give him a better, reasonable solution. If not, shut the F up.

Which would be lovely of course, if this were a business. But it's not. It's a free service except for those who choose to make a totally voluntary donation. (The CS reference is hilarious because I've been successfully employed in CS most of my working life). Brett kept it going at his own expense pretty much till recently, the donations not beginning to cover costs and the mods look after the place for nothing... they donate their time for free.
If you can find a better source of Van Halen info on the net, go for it. You wont! It's the best and has been for years.
