It's becoming less and less likely that I am concerned about Van Halen these days so this will hardly effect me. Still, after so many years it's quite the shock to see the commercial splash screen on the site. If that's what you think you have to do to keep from losing money...I dunno, go for it? I sure wouldn't lose money for Van Halen.
The world still needs a fun place to talk about VH once in a while. While I personally appreciate the site and your efforts very much I can't really say that I think momentum is in your favour. Good luck.

Anyways, to be serious for a moment...
I think the Flash ads would be the way to go. Put it somewhere where it would not be obtrusive like where the VH store ad is on the left for example. That would be way better than a popup/under/over anyday...

The popups make me think my computer has a trojan virus because I have a popup blocker and it doesn't block them.
I own the www.IllinoisMusicians.com forum and I insert ads from Guitar Center and Musicians Friend in between the first and second post of every thread. I also put an MF Search at the top of the forum. Can you do something like that? I make a few bucks a month on it, but I don't get anywhere near the traffic that you get.

Brett,
Must you force us to view this corporate propaganda, all I want to do is talk about my undying love for VH and I am constantly getting interupted by pop under, over and sideways ads. (I do like the p*rn ads, but you have to refresh a milion times to see them... FIX THAT).
Are you really that greedy that you would subject us to this? We are loyal VH fans.
