Advertising

Hi guys,

The cost of my server has gone up, and I need to figure out ways to supplement that with more income from the site. So what I'm going to be doing over maybe the next few weeks is experimenting with different types advertising on the site, beyond the Google stuff (that pays hardly anything) and the VH Store ads.

I have been accepted into a couple of different advertising networks, so I am going to give them a shot. With that said, I may try some different things, and they may be annoying, but I want to see how they do. I may try a pop-under and something called an InVue ad. Obviously you can just close them, and I hate those things more than anyone, but if they can help me pay for the site, then I need to do it. You just have to close it, and I am pretty sure most of these pop-under things are frequency capped so you won't see them that often.

If it's becomming an issue, I'll go different route, but I wanted to warn you guys before I implement a few of them.

Any questions, let me know. And certainly voice any complaints, but I am hoping you understand where I'm coming from. It's not cheap to run a site of this size, and I think most of you understand that.

I have a pop up blocker Brett....will it take care of these types of ads as well? Not a big deal if it doesn't...just curious.

Do whatever you have to do to keep the site going....

Not sure what a pop-up blocker will do on pop-unders actually if I decide to go that route.

Brett, I think you are making enough money from this site. There's no need to line your pockets further with more ad revenue. If anything, cut some of the fat from the mods salaries and fire OLO.

I started the pop-under, it comes up once every 12 hours. And if I can I will make it so premium members NEVER see it...IF I can figure out how which I think I can.
