After a 13-year collaboration, Eddie has parted ways with Peavey, meaning his line of 5150 amps and Wolfgang guitars will be renamed, but continued by the instrument manufacturer.
According to a press release from Peavey, the 5150 amps will be renamed the "6505" in commemoration of Peavey's 40 years in business (1965-2005). Also, the Wolfgangs will be repackaged as the "HP Special" guitars. Both will share much of the design and parts used on the their EVH siblings.
Although no official announcement has been made on Eddie's future endorsement plans, it seems that Charvel is the frontrunner to land Ed's entire business since they are producing his special line of Art Series striped guitars.
Ed has not commented publicly on the split with Peavey, but CEO and founder Hartley Peavey had the following to say, "I'm very proud of the work we accomplished with Edward. The 5150 Series has earned its place as a rock guitar standard, and the Wolfgang is a staple in the pantheon of rock instrumentation. They're both well respected pieces, and I'm glad we could bring those to life."
